Anyway, car is back now & looks perfect this time. Taking it to the detailers this week to get a price for the gtechniq treatment.

So far I'm getting the boot liner (£85) FOC from the dealership GM, he's offered to pay towards the gtechniq work & every time he's had the car it's came back with a full tank of fuel.
He also said when it comes to service time he'll be making sure I'm looked after there as well.

I guess the dealers preferred bodyshop would have been a cost decision and cost is driven down by the amount of vehicles they can get in and out in the quickest time. Same for everything these days; no one seems to take pride in doing a good job.
Good that your dealer is trying to make amends however and that your car is finally as it should have been on delivery day

Plenty of body shops round here that do. But, you get what you pay for. Wonder whether the dealer would have put his own car into that shop?

Nope apparently it was actually Andy Barratts decision, he said it had to goto a Ford bodyshop for warranty paint work. Ford bodyshop were busy for 3 weeks though so they relented slightly and agreed it could goto the Audi bodyshop instead.

2 attempts later I said it isn't going back for a 3rd try

Yeah, I was maybe a bit harsh, there are some that take a real pride in their work but it takes a bit of effort to find them. Not just talking about the motor trade. I've had bad experiences with about every kind of tradesman. Nothing beats a verbal recommendation.
