Hey all!

Was part of the Mustang group back when I had my 17 Ecoboost, but we decided to move on and get something a bit bigger at the time. We were both huge fans of the new chargers and we had decided to get a 19 Scat Pack. Fast forward to this saturday, and we picked up a new M6 GT Premium while the deals were absolutely killer. The ol' lady needed to finally get rid of her Taurus as we were just putting money into a sinking ship, so now she drives the Scat Pack. While I absolutely love the charger, and just how dramatic and fun it is...it's no joke that it handles like a boat. New 19 GT Premium, active exhaust, black accent package, navigation, spare tire. We decided to take advantage of the 0% APR deal and managed to get it out the door at 36. I do have a few questions though:

1. I've seen some hints but couldn't find them again. For the first 500-1000 miles, is the tune conservative at first? If I remember correctly the Ecoboost was really tame the first 1000 miles and then really started to open up. I know the charger was like this.

2. For the new models did they raise the seating position? I swear in my ecoboost it felt like I was sitting on the floor. In the GT it feels like I sit incredibly far up. Is this for the new models, or is it because it's premium? My father noticed it as well when I took him for a ride and that's always his first complaint.

First of welcome back to the club. The seating position is the same but since the hood is slightly different it may feel different just from your pov. There is a break in period but I don't think there is a tune difference after 500,1000, etc. You have scat pack which makes ton of power early on while the coyote you really have to spin it to get power from it.

Only reason I noticed and mentioned seat height, is because I can barely see stop lights, and i have to hunch down in the drive through. The ecoboost felt like the cloth seats sat nearly on the floor.

As far as power, definitely not complaining, and understand the motors are entirely different. (Hell it was snowing yesterday and it's incredible how the mustang just hooks and goes compared to the charger. You barely tap the throttle in it and you spin in ANY moisture lol). Was just curious if they made it a bit conservative at first as I've seen in some of the other posts that owners noticed after a few thousand it seemed to open up.

Have you lowered the seat as far as it will go?

Haha yes I have. For most people it probably wouldn't be a huge issue (I mean it's not huge for me), but I'm 6'2 and I have short little legs, with a long torso. My eye-line is basically right in line with the top of the window.

Haha, I can't do a convertible. Have never really been a fan of them. Yea I feel like I'm gonna have to ride with my chair back a little and leaning lol.

Killer wheel and color combo! Can't beat it imo haha. Let me know if you would like to open her up with a tune, they are a tad bit conservative from the factory, a Lund or PBD tuning will make some great power on a 2018-20. Lethalperformance.com

Brutal, already starting with the tune LOL. Trust me, it's coming eventually. Looking to go E85 once all this around us kinda settles down some.

E85 will wake that thing up a TON! I know from personal experience haha. Glad to see you're back in a Mustang though. I'm jealous about the 0% deals going on right now.

I won't lie. The mustang just feels at home. Got right in and it was like I never left (Well minus the extra 4 cylinders). We still have the scat pack, and it's a GREAT car for a fun sedan. Brutal low down torque for fun in the city, but handles like a damn semi. The first time I took an on-ramp at over the posted 35 mph limit, I thought I was gonna die. It's also nice to come back down to a $400 dollar car payment with the 0% APR. Saves me about 200 a month in payment alone. My other big reservation is I wanted a manual again. I absolutely loathe driving automatics, no matter how fast they are. I never know what to do with my hands!!

That was one big reason I went this route instead of going my original ZL1 route. Modability, and just how well the new 5.0 takes to everything. We'll be looking at H-pipe, E85 tune, headers and CAI here shortly.

Congrats! I'm not the only guy around now with a SP and a Mustang. Our driving situation is reversed though, my wife drives the Mustang daily. I'm like a divorced dad to that car; nights, weekends, holidays .
Haha nice! I love the SP, but it just wasn't me. They're an absolute blast to drive and cruise around town in. That low end torque is just phenomenal. But we went on a cruise last night in the GT to cure some boredom being stuck inside, and we both agree that overall the GT is just more fun in more areas. We went out sunday to do some shopping and took both cars, and it ended up snowing pretty hard. SP with snow tires, GT with PZero AS, and she couldn't get the SP to grip off the line, where the GT just goes with inferior tires. (And these are Hakkappellita snow tires) Powering through a corner in the charger will give the ol' end gasket a workout, the GT does it with ease.

She wanted the charger, the extra room (Has a kid), and the weighty stability, and I wanted something for the back roads. So it all worked out haha.

Congrats on your GT and enjoy!

My 2020 GT finally arrived this past Valentine's Day. Now, it's back to where I started from after all these decades.
