I’m wondering if anyone has experienced this. I have a 2019 mustang GT with a stage 2 Roush SC. The cooling fan keeps coming on and when it does, I can feel it. The car doesn’t run hot at all. I checked my coolant, it was a little low. I added coolant but I can still feel the fan come on. What else should I check? Any advice is appreciated.

Do you have a device you can log with?

Get yourself an SCT X4. Just buy a used one for $50-75, doesn't matter if it's locked. You can still datalog with it and use it to watch everything in real time.

This way you can determine the exact temperature your fans come on, as well as a million other things.

Since your car is boosted you should go ahead and get a physical boost/vacuum gauge as well. Comes in handy for troubleshooting purposes.

For some better insight...

- At what temp (Engine Coolant Temperature or Cylinder Head Temperature) do the fans begin coming on?

- Has the thermostat been changed? One that opens at a lower temperature? Has the engine mapping (if tuned) been changed, to engage the fans at lower temps?

- Do the fans come on and stay on? Or they cycle on/off? If cycling, how long are they on for or how often do they cycle?

- Houston. FI car. Is the A/C turned on when the fans are coming on?

Thanks.

The fans can come on shortly after I start, before the engine is warmed up. I also have the AC on. Nothing has been modified and the car has the tune that came with the Roush supercharger. The fans will cycle on and off. When they cycle on, it is on about a couple seconds. Also, when I say I can feel them come on, I can feel the car shake, nothing over aggressive but I can feel movement that I did not feel before. Thanks for the help.

Part of the logic of the S550 is the fans will come on when the A/C is on, regardless of engine temperature. I'm attaching some schematics which help describe it.

Feeling the fans...unless they're making a noise or rattling or something, I feel it's normal. I notice when mine come on. I think most people do.

If you think the fans are cycling too often, or they are cycling in a new pattern, that could be an issue. You could have the high and low side pressures of the A/C checked to confirm the system is charged well.

If the engine temperature only (A/C is off) is engaging the fans, they should come on and stay on, until temps lower to a point.

It does make it a bit different, tying the A/C and cooling logic together. It's my understanding this is done not only for temperature control in the engine compartment, but to ensure air is flowing across the A/C condenser, especially when idling at a stop.
