Question from a novice. Just noticed dealer or Ford from factory filled coolant level above the Max line. Going to a track day this weekend. Is this something I should fix before the track day? Any negative consequences having coolant filled above the Max line? Thank you.

it'll spit it out in time as it pressurizes, excess will boil out or whatever. when cold, just remove some, if not it'll get shot into the engine bay and make a small mess possibly or dont worry about it. if the engine was drained and refilled, then it will drink it up, there's a drain screw on the coolant line near engine. but im assuming your car has enough in it, id drain some out.

Looks like green on orange. Anyways... you'd think a tech would know better than to overfill it. I mean.. the friggin' marking is RIGHT THERE. lol What a shmuck.

if you drain some, and drive it a bit. and realize it is low, can always add as needed.

as long as the tank isn't empty, there's no worry. but the overflow, will be pushed out when super heated. I dont know exactly how much pressure it needs, but every car ive owned, over the full mark, typically gets shot out the tank over time.

This is when the coolant is cold I presume?

If not then wait until the coolant is cold to check the level.

Thank you for the reply. Yes when cold. When up to temp, I haven't noticed it above the level in the picture, but for a track day, I'm assuming there is a higher probably of trouble occurring, so I thought I would ring the community of advice.

Not like you can’t drain some w a little suction pump, put it in a container. Add if ends up being low

also coolants cheap lol.

Everytime I take my F150 for service at the dealer, they always seems to fill the coolant up towards the top. And invaribly, it ends up spilling out when it heats up. First time it happened, I thought I had a coolant leak because I smelled the coolant. I just wait until it's cool, then siphon out until it's at normal level. I save the coolant for when the coolant may actually get low.
Don't know why the service techs do this, but apparently it's not just me it's happening too.
