A decent convertible costs $130K + now so that's a fair price for what you get.

Most young people don't care about cars now anyway and if they do want a fun car they'll just rent one.

I love my 2.7 bronco soft top can go way more places the Mustang vert and it's fast enough.

I thought the PP calipers were always red. Maybe i was thinking of the Bullits.
Nope, they always were dark grayish or whatever color. Later on Bullits and I want to say Mach 1s were colored.

But vast majority of gen 6 cars had dark grayish Brembos. Calipers were all the same as well (except for Shelbys obviously).

From Google Ai:

"The caliper color is determined by the vehicle's package, and options for the standard model and Handling Package include black, red, and orange.
Brake caliper colors available for 2021–2023 Mach 1:
  • Red: Standard on the base model.
  • Orange: Included with the optional Handling Package.
  • Black: Some forum posts from owners and parts listings suggest black calipers were also available on the base models or with other trim configurations"

This is a car for retired boomers, not young people. Convertible V8 Mustangs have never been attainable under 30 unless you got rich parents.

12k in options, come on. 58k base price for a GT vert (which is literally all anyone needs) is about 10k more than it was when I bought my 2020. With the way prices of literally everything else have jumped since 2020, I can't single out the Mustang for costing so much.

The F150, Bronco, and Explorer all go for way more now than 5 years ago too. Anything actually cool is way more expensive and the only deals are on boring mundane vehicles I would never want.

And FYI to all the people listing older Mustangs and talking about not holding their value, that's not been true with later model S550's at all. 2019s and 2020 GTs in nice condition still sell in the low-mid 30s today. I paid 46k for mine and could get about 30k for it. It was 51k with tax out the door in 2019. That is great depreciation for a 6yr old car and not how it used to be with American vehicles. The dealership offered me 28k my last oil change, I could roll that into a Dark Horse and have the same payment I had with this GT for the same terms. Not a bad deal IMO, and I know that's a low offer.

I think some of you are real oblivious to the fact that Ford sells the last V8 Manual good looking and easy to get car around and lots of people still want a V8 these days, even if they can't afford it right now. Highlighting sales are down for the Mustang? Sales are down for all sports cars, everyone is eating it right now.

With a bit more budget this is the Vert to get imo . Whole different ballgame to a Mustang in this spec but you can get a lower spec one for around the price of a Mustang .

From google Ai: "This red color is a factory original equipment feature for the 2018-2019 Bullitt models and the Performance Pack GTs from 2015-2023, according to Ford."
If Wikipedia is questionable, Google AI is a steaming bag of worthless. It scans the web and builds plausible sentences, but with no cross-checking.

And, to be clear, my 2019 factory original equipment Performance Pack GT has, and has always had, black Brembo calipers with a white Ford logo.

When I typed in more colors and models google Ai told me what I put in post #48. It is for the Mach 1 but should apply for the pp 1 and 2 since we use their calipers and brakes.

My 23 mach1 has black calipers. RED was a $495 option.

The problem is that the AI summaries are scrapes of the web, not real analysis. If it comes across enough posts saying something, it will report it as fact. It often creates facts out of thin air. There are a number of court cases where an attorney has used AI to write a brief, the AI makes up the citations, and then the judge starts reaming people when the opposing side tries to find the cites and discovers they don't exist.

it s not just mustangs. look at truck prices. I ve had a few Porsche s and they priced me out of the market to get another. someone made me an offer on my pp2 at a show which I thought was high, now I m thinking it may be low, LOL. and I wasn't t even selling or advertising it. the guy must see the value of a low mileage mustang . that why I bought it. 1/2 the price of that vert.

I never imagined a lowly "GT" would get so expensive. I can provide some context. My first GT Convertible in 2000 stickered at $26,875. My current one from 2015 stickered at $46,895 and was optioned exactly how I wanted it. The price almost doubled from 2000 to 2015 but a nicely spec'd GT ragtop was still less than 50k. The benefit of spec'ing it just the way I wanted it means I still love it, with no plans to let it go.

This I have to disagree with. I bought my first GT convertible when I was under 30. I wanted one badly and was willing to work tons of hours to make it happen. Honestly I would have bought it sooner but worked to pay off all my student loans to be "debt free" before taking on a car payment. This strategy of paying off all debt before taking on a major purchase has served me well for the last few decades; through multiple cars, houses, and kids.

IMO you d be in the minority . The majority of under 30 s are not spending $70K for a car.
