Controlling air flow through instrument panel vents using center console buttons

Hi,

Have a '16 GT prem.

Might be an extremely silly question but can't figure this out for the life of me.

Am trying to find a way to force air flow through the instrument panel vents w/out using SYNC3/touch screen interface.

Currently using Android auto and am forced to change out of the AA page back into sync 3, and then back into AA, just so I can change this, which gets bothersome.

There seems to be buttons in the center console to control every heating/cooling related setting, but the I.P. vents.

You can control everything with voice commands on previous Sync versions. I don't have Sync 3, but I imagine it still works. Press the voice button on the steering wheel and give it a shot.

thanks for the suggestion.

Once you have android auto connected though, Sync commands don't work as the voice commands button automatically triggers Google's voice recognition.

Your right, there is not a button to direct flow to the panel. However, by using the 'Auto' climate button and changing the temperature manually it will direct the flow primarily through the panel when using a cool temp setting. It should only send air to the feet when setting the temp warm. It is supposed send air to where it makes the most sense in 'auto'.

The lack of any physical control for this made me decide against the premium interior. I use those controls often and I found that too stupid of a design on principle to consider. There's no need for Max AC or Max Defrost buttons. They could've integrated the hold the temp all the way up or down to activate those just like the base, and freed themselves up two buttons for the airflow.

When the Design/Studio overrules HMI engineering, you get this.

The buttons do seem pretty oddly laid out.
I just use auto most of the time.
Another thing I find annoying is the temperature sensor does not have a fan. Most german cars I have encountered would place a small fan by the temperature sensor so the temperature of the interior is always correct. The mustang does not have that fan so it would either overheat in the winter because the dash is cold or overchill in the summer because the dash is hot.

I believe the sensor in the center of the dash is a sun load sensor. Not sure where the interior temp sensor is. Sometimes they are in the headliner, usually they have a grille covering over them.

It's by the driver side steering column.
The other thing is I don't believe the AC is adjusted to sun light either. My previous BMW would lower the temperature about 1-2 degrees if the light sensor sees a lot of sun light.

Yes, that picture above has the little fan behind the serrations. I saw it when I was running my nGauge cord to the center vent.

The physical controls in my focus were so good I never touched the climate section of the touch screen. I don't see why something similar couldn't have been used in the Mustang. Because not only do you lose control of climate with Android Auto, you can't even see what it's currently set to.
