Console Lid Won't Open

Thanks for any help...

I have a 2016 GT Premium PP with the security package. My console lid the other day just stopped opening. I can use a piece of hard cardboard and push it down in the crack and force the latch open. When open the tabs on the lid do not depress. I don't know if the security system has them locked or if I need a new part FR3Z-6306024-CE. Anyone have any experience with this before I plop $200 on a lid?

Check this thread:; another M6G user found that his console light was staying on with the lid shut. He has pics of how to take apart the rear section of the console which exposes the switch. This may be the same switch (or location of a security switch) for the security package.
