Hi, I'm trying to do a compression test on my GT. I put a 2.9L Whipple on it in the summer and I'd like to check how the engine is doing. I pulled the coils and plugs and the fuel pump fuse, but while testing the third cylinder the car went into "cranking time exceeded" mode. I waited 30min like the internet says and it still said "cranking time exceeded". So, I reinstalled the fuel pump fuse and hit the key several times to make sure it built fuel pressure and now I'm waiting again. Is there really no way to reset this or bypass this feature? Surely Ford mechanics don't have to deal with this feature too. It would take 2-3 hours to do a 10min test...

Have you tried disconnecting the battery?

I had this happen to me and I don't remember it being too difficult to work around, pretty sure I just disconnected the battery.

Yeah, I had a hunch after reading that someone else disconnected their battery for 10 minutes and I did a KAM(Keep Alive Memory) reset. I used my nGauge and performed an ECU KAM reset and keyed off and back on. You lose all the learned ECU data, but if you're at the point of compression testing, it probably doesn't make two shits difference anyway. But waiting 30 minutes didn't work, and disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes does the same thing as a KAM reset.

BTW, all my cylinders checked out fine.
4 = 247.5 8 = 252.5
3 = 257.5 7 = 250.0
2 = 255.0 6 = 250.0
1 = 255.0 5 = 250.0

Do Coyotes also suppose to have 250? Just curious.
