Hi guys, I have a 2015 S550 mustang with OEM wheels. My current tyre size are front 255/40/19 96y Rear 275/40/19 101y p zeroes. They are coming to the end off there life and was wondering what's a better wider fitment option that I can put on. I will be replacing with Michelins. I've not lowered the car yet but will be looking to in the near future but was wanting/thinking its best going wider to get a bit more grip? Any advice appreciated guys :)

If you really want to go wider, you need new wheels, not just tires. I think on the PP wheels, the widest you'd want to go on the rear is 285.

Cant afford new wheels at the moment, i'm afraid. So for now i'm stuck with OEM fitment. So 285 rears you say on OEM. What about the fronts ? cheers

By the looks of it I can have;
Michelin pilot sport 4 255/40/19/100w xl fronts
Michelin pilot sport 4s 305/30/19/102 ZR (y) xl rears
Can anyone confirm this set up? cheers

the 305s will mount but they are toooo big for the stock rear wheels, safety wise

You can easily go 265 in the front. 275s will squeeze on too. I've got 285/35R19 on the front 9" wheels for autocross, but most people should probably stop at 275 on the fronts.

285 is a reasonable fit for the rear, but its almost senseless to go 275 front 285 rear when you could go square 275/275 or if you're crazy 285/285 and have the option of dismounting the tires from the wheels, rotating them front/back and getting extra life out of a set.

Thanks for the advice dude, I will see if I can go 265s on the front then but wouldn't mind going wider on the rear, maybe 295s ? if they do them ? Not fussed about swapping for tyre wear really as I get my tyres for free as im a Michelin worker. Will just have see, what I can get, in the pilot sports, without altering the speedo ratio.:)

Pilot Sport 4S in OEM size is enough unless you are competitively tracking the car. They are an extremely grippy tire- you'll notice an improvement in handling from that more than from getting 10mm wider tires.
Unless of course you just want wider tires for the looks of it. Then you might as well get all seasons that last a little longer.

Stick to OEM sized tires IMO.
Pilot Sports 4S seem to be the best choice for daily performance

None of what you're talking about in sizes is going to appreciably do anything for the car. Stick to the OE sizes like was mentioned since you're not doing wheels, too.
