Collision warning lights as a shift light ?

Hi,
On my GT I can see that the front collision warning lights cutout in the dash is covered by a block off panel.

My idea is to get the lights, and hook them to micro transistor chip and attach a lead from the tach signle, so they will work as a shift light.

Any idea/thoughts are welcomed.

I know I have seen on here before someone adding a second row of LEDs into the same module, but not utilize the same lights.

It was either shift lights or he hooked it to his radar detector. Can't remember anymore.
