Recaros??? It's my one and only reservation...do I buy this car or spec out a regular production G.T. with the equivalent options including those fantastic seats? Pericak says that this L.E. is meant to be everything that the G.T. with Performace Pack is along with the obvious 50th visuals that are special to the car. Wonder why they couldn't have gone the extra mile....even 500 yards...and added one of the best factory performance features that Mustangs have had available lately?

I'm not an L.E. snob and love the looks and features of the car which is why I'm a pretty lucky guy in a position to buy one. But Recaros would be the icing on what promises to be a great cake. And they'd reduce weight too. Love my power seats with heating and cooling lol but I'd gladly forgoe that stuff for a pair of seats that'll keep me in my place on track days.

Please Ford....there's still time to surprise about 1,964 of us!!!

Well, the Recaro seats are for the most part carryovers from the current Mustang. The new standard factory seats look to have much better bolstering. I don't think the demographic this LE appeals to, like my father who is 63, is in the market for Recaro seats as standard equipment.

For the people like yourself who want the Recaro seats, it would be cool if it was an option. I have them in my GT500 and love them.

They would have to tool the specific 50 Years embossing in the Recaro seatbacks as well, which is probably just too costly for such a limited run, of which many probably wouldn't even want the Recaro option.

My Recaro beef with Ford is the forced leather outfitting with the Premium Package. I hate leather.

Exactly my points...you made both of them. 1) Make them an option because 2) You...and probably every single owner that has them, loves them.

Demographics aside (understandable btw) it was Pericak and Ford's press release, not me, who identified this car as sort of the ultimate tribute to the Mustang's heritage yet still possessing all the best that a GT has to offer. Well they missed one of the options boxes when they were ticking " everything on the list" as the release implies. And back to demographics.....not everyone who buys this car is older than the Mustang lol.

Oh well, doesn't hurt to ask. And if anyone from Ford ever reads this, I'm asking. Please

Well it's too late now...

But the stock non-Recaro seats have been improved with much better bolstering, especially the shoulder support.

These current Recaros, including the very slightly updated S550 model (same seat, different seat back release), aren't all that great. The bolstering is soft and not as supportive as the best Recaros are. And the bottom of the seat is angled very steeply, so there is too much support under the legs. The seat bottom is at a bizarre and uncomfortable angle.

I've also had the factory Recaros the last two times they were offered, and they were much better. Especially in my '79 Pace Car, where they were made in Germany and the bolstering was nearly perfect with much more solid foam, although the shoulder bolstering wasn't as good as more modern Recaros. I've also added Recaros to several Mustangs I've built up. And then there are the CTS-V Recaros... excellent all around (heating and cooling) although the support isn't the best available. For that look at the current Fiesta/Focus ST seats.

So the Recaros in the Mustang aren't that aggressive, and the ST are thought by some to be too aggressive. Probably the typical Mustang buyer wouldn't fir in the ST Recaros. I think it's possible that Ford will back off on the ST seats a bit, widening them a bit, we'll see when the new Focus ST is introduced in a few months.

And look at he optional Recaros in the new Corvette and the Camaro. These also have soft foam, but not as soft as the Mustang's Recaros. But they have exceptional shoulder support, and that's where it really counts.

I'm disappointed that the new GT350 (or whatever it is) appears to use the same Recaros as the pedestrian Mustangs. There may be a change there, but it appears that the prototypes are done, even right down to the wheels.

Yeah I guess you're right lol. But thanks for the rest of your info, great review and I hope the new seats are in fact a tighter fit. Still would prefer the Recaros though, no matter how watered down they are.

Yes, definitely, it is weird that they didn't do the Recaros, especially since price was no object.

I'd settle for stitching, the way they do them now. Not a big deal. Neither would embossing be a big deal. Both of these are simple procedures. Quite honestly I could forgo the 50th seat logos if it were for a good cause.

Alas I fear this discussion is moot anyways :(

Just an FYI, you can buy cloth Recaros from Ford Racing.

My Recaro beef is that they should come with the option of being heated and cooled. The Focus ST comes with heated Recaros. No excuse for Mustang.

^Agree. The Focus ST Recaros also look higher quality than the Mustangs. Haven't sat in the Mustangs so can't compare feel but I love how the ST's feel.
