So I bought the Steeda clutch spring from a member and went to install it today. Watched youtube videos on install and obviously straight forward. Went to my car and thought i was blind because I didn't see a spring. Came back inside and watched the video again and concluded I never had the stock spring/perch assembly the entire time i owned the car (11 months).

So background info....i bought the car new at dealership on a Saturday evening. When i finished the paperwork and they realized the keys were in the service department and by that time the service department was closed until Monday. They gave me another new mustang to drive for the 2 days. Fast forward to Monday when i pick up my car the first thing i noticed was that the pedal felt much heavier than the loaner i had. I just assumed that not all cars are the exact same. This is my first mustang and also was my first time ever driving one in addition to it being my first MT so I didn't have anything to compare it to. I know it didn't come off since I've been driving the car because the pedal feel has never changed.

I know to always be respectful when voicing such matter to the dealer but being that it has almost been a year of ownership and this is something they could assume I did and am just trying to get a replacement, how should i go about this? Also the dealer is about an hour drive so is this something i could settle at a nearby dealer?

Thanks

Thanks. Yea that’s what I was thinking. Didn’t want to make an issue for a small plastic piece. But didn’t want money coming out of my pocket for their error but I guess that’s life.

Thanks again

The plastic piece the spring sits in is not available from Ford. So only option is the Steeda aluminum perch, or a used one from some place - membervhere or a junk yard.

I wonder if someone who worked there popped it off because their's was broken? Strange it was missing from the factory, but could be possible.

I would take it in, and see if they will give you a factory spring installed for free. I say this because i also tried a Steeda Spring, and after a week of driving, I decided I liked the factory spring better, so I put it back. If it was never there form the factory, then maybe they'll give you one for free to try out for a while. If you like it, then you don't have to spend $100.

Then again, if you bought it used, then the guy you bought it from should have given you the part, or the dealer when selling it to you should have installed one.

Thanks for the feedback. Yea I am going to call them tomorrow and see what they say. Not trying to make an issue over a small plastic piece but then again not trying to give up money when it isn't needed.

I bought the car new so its weird.
