Hey folks,
So I’ve had this issue for awhile now, it seems to happen on initial onset of a WOT pull or quick blip of gas at times. I have a whipple Stage 1 with 30k miles on my manual gt pp. It essentially feels sluggish or to not come on right away and then will come on normally after that initial part. Doesn’t happen every time but enough to catch my attention after awhile. I first assumed belt slip, called whipple sent them logs and they assured me nothing said that on the log. Obviously they as well checked the tune and said it was pulling timing or anything out of ordinary.
So at this point I’m wondering if the clutch is slipping? It drives and engages fine when this happens it’s in gear so idk if it’s just not able to hold on/grab to the increased power.

when my clutch was slipping it was the other way round, it came on normally til about 4.5k revs then no power and revs flew up. think that's the fairly standard symptom anyway based on only the 2 cars i've had that have lost a clutch. went at only 620rwhp

You'll notice the revs pick up faster than the speed in 6th above about 2500 rpm if the clutch is slipping. The tach and speedo should track in 6th. If the tach moves faster, you have clutch slip. That and when you stop, you'll smell burned disk. The smell is like overheated brakes.

If you’re using the power by gear function in the whipple flight control it can make it feel that way. Put it in a gear that has no power reduction and see if it feels the same.

I believe I have them all set to 100%, is that the correct way it should be? Or can I disable power by gear all together

They range from 0-25%. Choose a gear that has a 0% correction or make them all 0% if you choose.

Gotcha so 0% is the most power. Okay I’ll check that. I didn’t adjust anything from how it came... idk what the default is I assumed it’d be full power?

Default is full power. If you have knock limiting enabled, disable that. Whipple has acknowledged that it is too sensitive. On my car, it was pulling throttle pretty often. However, I do recommend logging knock and keeping an eye on it, especially if your gas is questionable. With knock limiting disabled, the tune will pull timing instead of throttle to control knock.

Put it in 4th at 60mph, and step on it. You should be able to tell instantly if the pressure plate can't hold the disc from slipping.

Update, after a hard launch earlier today I noticed shifting into 3rd the rpms sky rocketed super fast almost like wheel spin. I didn’t think I was spinning that much so I slowed down and launched it in 3rd around 2500 rpm, the rpms again shot up like it was spinning but it really wasn’t. Is this the clutch slipping? Will it do this in every gear?

If it does the same thing in 4th and up, your clutch is slipping.

Confirmed it’s all gears, 5th shows it the worst but they’re all unusable when you stand in the gas.
So what’s my best bet here, Mccloud rst or maybe one of the lethal packages?

I just put a Lethal LPX in my car along with a Whipple stage 2 kit. I only have 150 miles on it so far and it's my first twin disc, so I don't have much to compare it to. Definitely feels a bit different than a single disc. The pedal feel is great, just like stock.

If you don't race the car, I'm sure a RST (organic) will be fine. If you do race or abuse your car often 😁 , you might want to try a beefier clutch that is kevlar (like the LPX) or ceramic. They will handle the abuse and heat better.
