I'm hoping I can get some advice. 2015 GT with a 3.0L Whipple. My clutch was slipping, so I was going to pull the trans and saw all this coolant. Thoughts on where it might be coming from and if it could be causing my clutch issues?
It's a McLeod RST with 3600 miles on it, and when I got on it, it would spin and stink. I thought maybe I burned it up since it's only rated for 800HP and I have 829. Seeing the coolant may explain why it is slipping.

Have you performed a pressure test on the cooling system? Thats step 1 if its not an obvious leak.

I found the leak. It was a front passenger heater hose; the clamp was loose, so I tightened it up.

Coolant was leaking from this hose into the valley of the engine and going through a hole at the back of the valley into the bell housing.

Now I'm wondering what the next steps might be. My thoughts are to spray some water down the valley to clean everything up the best I can, maybe use some compressed air to try and dry things off, and maybe give it a day or two to air dry.

I'm thinking if the clutch can get cleaned off and dry, it should be good, or at least good enough to test and see.

Try spraying generous amounts of brake and parts cleaner in there and saturating the area. Coolant is silky feeling when rubbed between your fingers, so perhaps the brake and parts cleaner will break down that coolant and prevent any further slipping of the clutch.

I don't think the RST holds up that well to that much power. I'm sure the coolant leak didn't help, but I bet at the very least it needs to be rebuilt. Once that coolant got in there and coated the friction material it probably wouldn't hold any more.

I reached out to McLeod and the confirmed the same if coolant did get on the disc it would need to be replaced.

The current plan is to you a Gates Power Grip instead of the clamp to prevent future leaks, pull the trans and ship the clutch to Mcleod for a rebuild and an upgrade to an RXT, it should make it a bit easier to clean up the coolant with the trans out anyway.

I had an RXT in my GT500 and had it rebuilt by them. You'll be happy when you get it back.
