Ok so I have a coolant leak on the driver side toward the back of the engine. After everything was done brought the car up to operating temp, cool down, back to operating temp and then a short drive. Coolant temp and cylinder head temp held steady the entire drive. Right before I got home I have it an opportunity to get up in the revs and that’s when I could smell something. Got it home and smoke was rolling from the engine bay. Back of the exhaust manifold was wet and coolant was dripping on the exhaust.
Thoughts/ideas?

Bolts weren't torqued down in the right order or not torqued to spec. Gasket could be damaged. A gasket could be reused. Gasket may not be lined up right. It could be a number of things. It'll have to be pulled back apart regardless of the why.

EDIT: I guess there's a chance the coolant wasn't drained and a bunch dumped out on disassembly. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen that.

I put it back in the air and started it up. Wasn’t leaking. Where the water “leak” is I didn’t touch any coolant lines. Only thing I touched back there was deleting the sound tube. That’s why I’m stumped.

Well the heater hose runs back there. As @K4fxd said, pressure test it.

anyone know what the transparent thing is on the top picture? That looks to be roughly the source of the water. Second images is just to the driver side of that thing. Water is all over the firewall etc. could t see it until I got the engine cover off

I know this isn’t much better. It’s in a super tight spot behind the intake manifold. I’ll pressure test the system hopefully tomorrow.

It's very hard to tell from the images exactly what that part is...

I've tried looking at online heater hose diagrams for the 2018 and still cannot find it.

Based on what is pictured, it looks like the hose has a plug in it (the white thing) and if so, then why is a clamp not visible to secure that part? Maybe coolant spurted from it or maybe when you were trying to get the sound tube out, it was bumped and the white thing is loose?
Is it related to the heater core, because that's the only other thing I can see and imagine it would be for since you're saying it's at the back of the intake.

A Picture taken a couple of feet further away would help identify it.

It’s completely hidden behind the intake manifold. I’ve been asking around and some have said they think it’s the transmission vent tube?

I did the same and couldn’t find anything. So the top of the white thing has a spring in it. I can spin the “cap” and push on it lol. The more I look at it I’m not certain that is the culprit. It’s certainly in the right area but there are some places coolant got that it wouldn’t make sense to come from that thing.
Prob just going to send it and hope for the best lol
