not a close-call but I saw the green light and was tempted to get on the gas, when I noticed a bicycle blocking the lane. Going slow. At night.

I attempted to honk the horn at the bicycle and pressed the center of the horn a couple of times and nothing. After giving up and continuing on, I remember you have to push at the edge of the horn

How would honking at that cyclist change or improve the situation?

Please don't honk at the cyclist. It can startle even the most experienced rider and cause him to veer left into traffic, or right into the curb causing a fall.

the goal was to tell the cyclist that they were not easy to see but I was unable to do that. With that stretch of road, cars could easily be doing 55 mph, and here you have this bicycle doing 15 mph. At night.

You have a valid point. While he has a bright red light, he is still risking his safety under those circumstances. It is possible that that is his only transportation and he is going to/from his 3rd shift low-paying job. It can be hard for us to empathize from behind the wheel of our 400hp sports cars going to/from our 1st world activities.

And your assessment of 15mph is spot on.

As for him not being close to the edge, he wisely hogged the center of the lane right before the intersection. This is to actually force traffic to slow down and wait behind him until he is clear of the intersection. The reason is a little complicated.

As I approach an intersection on my bike, I first check for a car near me, and then let it pass. But soon after, I hand signal and move to the center of the lane. This is to prevent any car from trying to pass me and then cut me off with a right turn. This is because they always misjudge the situation in their hurried state of mind and assume they can complete the maneuver in time.

The statistically #1 cause of car/bike collisions is the car hitting the cyclist while turning right onto the crossing street.

On the second half of the intersection, I want cross traffic that is turning right into my lane to easily see me, and pause to let me clear. Once I clear the intersection, I move back to the right edge, but still about 3' from the curb.

Riding a bike has become ever more dangerous with the amount of congestion and countless reasons for distracted drivers. Fortunately I live in an area with lots of bike paths so I can stay off the street. Except at intersections.

Not a comprehensive review or really a good side by side but you get the point.

Initial thoughts on the Thinkware x330

Pros:
- I like how it chimes at you when starting recording
- It gives an audible notification when you save a clip
- Menu navigation is easy and straightforward
- Image seems to be a bit more vibrant over the V1
- I didn't save any good clips, but the night time recording is heads above the Rexing. The Rexing has a lot more grain in it and this is a bit smoother. I need to get some more night recordings to be 100%

Cons:
- The save recording button doesn't have any way of distinguishing it from the other 3 buttons above it. I cannot see it behind my mirror and actually hit the wrong button when saving a file.
- It only saves in 1 min clips. Vs the Rexing that records in 5 min clips and you can see where you are in that recording when saving the file. Not a huge deal if you remember to go back and save footage later. But I have been saved by the Rexing capturing a bit more of the scene.
- Not sure if this cam creates larger files, but I don't seem to get the same amount of clips out of this as I did the Rexing.
- I wanted a cam with a screen and really liked how low profile the Rexing was. This type really sticks out and is really close to my mirror.

As of now I am planning on putting this in my wife's car and put the Rexing back in mine. Might sit on it for a bit before I do as it's a bit of a pain to switch these and hide the wires.

I have an earlier model Rexing and the V1. The V1 battery stopped charging??? and would not keep the date. I wrote a negative review on Amazon bringing out that point. Within a couple of days I got a note from Rexing asking for my address so they could send me a replacement cam.
So I guess there's one Pro and one Con. At least they responded and made it right.

I have Rexing V1 and S500 cams.
I like every feature of the S500 but reliability is not Rexing cams' strong point. Batteries die, date lost, files can't be saved, back warps in the heat until it falls off the mount, etc.

But Rexing will always send you a replacement immediately.

that's too bad you didnt see it happen and just the aftermath.

btw, is it not illegal in canada to be in the left lane unless passing? there are a lot of vehicles passing you on the right.

edit:
haha, never mind, you're not the driver...

did a viper cruise yesterday: douche in a silver Buick encore drives all aggressively around us and traffic. Later run into a clump of traffic, hard to get past it. I didnt know at first but there was a black Tahoe cop in front. You can see the Tahoe at 1:35. Later the encore gets super impatient, passes in the left shoulder right in front of the cop and gets busted. Shitbox gets pulled over as 10+ vipers drive by LOL

i didnt detect any radar. I didnt even know there was a cop holding everyone up until i saw the lights, and thinking he got a viper at first. But I laughed when it was the encore that was annoying us for the past few minutes.
