I own a 2009 Mustang Bullitt with the factory-optional navigation unit. I've found that I can get the nav screen squeaky clean by spraying a small amount of Windex (yes, the brand name glass cleaner) onto a clean piece of old t-shirt and then wiping the nav screen. Works like a charm.

I've got a GT350 on order, with the optional Technology Package. Can I clean the Sync 3 screen the same way, using Windex? The owner manual is pretty vague, but it was also pretty vague on my Bullitt.

I use a slightly damn cloth and wipe it. The wipie it with a microfiber floth. Works great. I sometimes use invisible glass or a cleaner made for HDTV's.

I ahve a 2016 GT Premium with SYNC 3 fyi.

I was hoping to hear something more definitive from the Ford IVT team members that contribute to this forum. The manuals for both my 2009 Mustang and the new Sync 3 system mention using small amounts of alcohol on a clean soft cloth to clean fingerprints from the screen. My 2009 manual says (in part): "Use only rubbing-alcohol based cleaners or a damp clean cloth." The Sync 3 manual says (in part): "If dirt or fingerprints are still on the screen, apply a small amount of alcohol to the cloth and try to clean it again."

Yes, I know not to use Windex on lots of other electronic screens. I don't use it on my iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro, or Panasonic plasma TV.

However, like I said, very small amounts of Windex glass cleaner on a soft clean cloth have worked great for over 7 years as a screen cleaner on my 2009 Mustang nav unit. I just figured someone at Ford must have tried this on the Sync 3 screen. Any comments from the IVT Team?

You'll ruin the coating on the touch screen with harsh chemicals.

Hey Bob S,

I recommend using a dry soft cloth. If you feel the need to add some type of liquid, please follow the instructions provided in the owner's manual. Apply a small amount of alcohol to the cloth and gently wipe the screen.

You can find that information on page 7 here: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/F...-Supplement-version-1_sycsy_EN-US_05_2015.pdf

I hope this helps.

I would use only a small microfiber cloth to try and get finger prints off the screen.
