So for those with an aftermarket intake, how often are you guys cleaning your oiled cone filters?? And what's your technique?

I took a look at mine last night after about 4K miles on it and it looks fine to me

On my old car I did it about every 5,000 to 7,000 miles... Mine was a dry filter, so you had to use soap and water and wait for it to dry. I bought a second filter so I could wash the one, and stick the dry one on immediately.

On previous vehicles, I would spray the cleaning solution on both sides of the filter and let it soak for about 10 minutes. I would then spray water from the inside of the filter so that the contaminants went out of the filter. I would then let it dry very good and then apply the filter oil evenly.
As for how often, it depends on where you live and how sandy it is.

I would oil mine whenever it lost it's color (which is in the oil). For my old K&N cone filter (previous car) I pulled it off and cleaned it before I washed my car. Then I'd let it sit out in the sun while I did my detailing. By the time it was all done the filter was dry, add oil, reinstall and off you go.
