So, I'm hopefully going to be having a baby coming around this time next year. I have my Mustang and my wife drives a Miata, so the Mustang appears to be the baby car. My question is, has anybody fit a rear-facing baby seat in their Mustang? If so, any pictures?

Congrats on expecting, there have been a few other posts regarding child seats but others will chime in who have rugrats.

Taken the car to red line yet?

Ha! Thanks. And yea, a few times (once while passing a bus when I hit 115 mph coming back to I-40 from the Grand Canyon during a cross-country trip last year). But I've spent most of my time in traffic... so far I've got 30,000 miles on her with about 1,200 hours of seat time, so even though basically all of my miles have been on longer road trips... most of my time has been spent tooling around at 10-15 mph or stopped dead in traffic, without much opportunity to let the tach run up.

Congrats! I did a rearward facing seat in my 2012, which has similar dimensions apart from less headroom in the 15's+. It was just a little wonky but totally workable. I did forward facing in the 2015, and now have a booster back there as my boy is getting older.

We have two other, larger vehicles that we use most of the time we travel as a unit, but I like being able to take my son in the mustang from time to time and he loves it.

Yeah, I had a 2011, so I know the rear seats are basically the same size. The Mustang is the "larger" car between the two we have, so it's the option for traveling.

congratz on not succumbing to the need to drop your sports cars and get an SUV. I remember riding in the back of my Dads 66 Corvette when I was 5 years old and not only did I survive but I loved it. That's how your raise kids that love cars.

I have a little girl that just turned 1. Had a 2011 GT when she was born and just got a 2016 GT. Rear facing seat fits just fine in both. Just make sure you get one of the protective mats to go under the seat or use a towel as others have done.

Yes, they fit ... a pain in the butt getting the child in & out ... but, that is all part of the fun!

No pictures, just from personal experience!

Best Regards,

Rear facing is tricky (both to fit/install and to get the kid in and out) but it's doable.

Front facing is a breeze and I have quite possibly one of the bulkiest seats out there (on purpose).

Yeah, rear-facing seat fit fine in the back. Make sure to get one of those snap-in ones though, much easier to get in and out. Though the passenger side needed to be bumped a little forward for it to fit. Fortunately my wife is short, so it was no big deal for her.

My son is now old enough that the seat is front-facing now, and no issues at all with that.
