I recently installed a new Steed CAI with out insert and had a tune emailed to me. After a little while my check engine light came on with code P0308. It throws after 3 to 4 cold starts. When cold starting the rpms are sporadic. They start out at 2000 RPM and move around all the way down to 1500 and all the way up to 2500. This happens for around a minute and then the motor comes down. I have done data logging and was told my fueling is where it should be. I also did a crank relearn and it did not help. I even checked to make sure that the CAI bolts are fully tight for no air leaks. Please note I'm note going to name my tuner as they are working with me. I just wanted to see if anyone else has any ideas that could help.

Search forum for that code and see if you get any hits. Good luck getting it corrected

I have searched to no avail. This didn't happen tell I changed my tune and CAI. I think that this happen due to my tune.

P0308 cylinder 8 misfire. Check your plugs and all connections. Did you remove your sound tube? the rear cylinder on that side is number 8 maybe you bumped a wire loose.

Issue is probably a crank position sensor. You will need to get that fixed.

I did not remove the sound tube with the new install as it was removed with my old AiRaid CAI about 20k miles ago. I will check my plug wires thanks for the idea.

Checking plug wires won't fix anything. This has nothing to do with that.

First thing I'd do it put the stock intake and tune back on and see if it's cleared.

Check eine light on again. I wonder if this has to do with my being at high altitude with the oversize mass air flow housing. I don't know much about Tunes but possibly their settings are not correct for my altitude.

I'm to the point that I would be willing to pay another tuner if they could get it right faster than this tuner is.

I think it's only a cold start issue however I'm not 100%. I sure hope this will not damage my engine.

If you read above I'm pretty sure its a sensor. Take it to the dealer. Has nothing to do with the tune.

Why did it only do this after changing my CAI? Also why does it only throw after a cold engine start? Other than that the engine runs fine and has no symptoms.
