The stripe is just a vinyl...If I was you I’d take your situation as an opportunity to get a different stripe added by a professional company.
+1 What are the odds that the factory one is your exact mostest bestest color, style, width, etc..

The waiting lists aren't what they once were, I get that, but after three months I changed my mind on the colour and my dealer accepted the change. Even though the invoice would be £700 less. At that time (mid 2016) they said as long as it's not be lodged on the factory "computer" spec changes can be made. That was a May order, August change and an end October build.

Not sure if COTUS or ETIS are still on the go, but those Ford website helped give a vague indication as to the stage in the build/ship process.

Glad you’ve got it sorted and arguably better off for doing it post collection but...

Amazing isn’t it? “Hi there Mr Ford, I’d like to give you a significant sum of cash and I’d like to wait 6 or more months for the product”, Mr Ford “certainly, not a problem, we’d be delighted to”...

“Hi Mr Ford, I’m delighted to say that on top of the house deposit I’ve given you I’d like to spend even more money with you, on top of what I’ve already spent with you, and I’m happy for you to tell me what that would take to achieve”

Mr Ford “No”

What?!

“Hi Mr Porsche, I’ve ordered my Boxster and in doing so spent lots of money with you. I’ve changed my mind and would now like to spend even more with you, it that ok?”

Mr Porsche “certainly, we can do that for you! Although I must warn you that even though we haven’t started the build process on your car yet as it’s sat in the queue, depending on the options you want to go for, it might put a delay when your car is built as some options are only made to order and therefore take longer. We’d always encourage a customer to go for the spec of car they’re happy with though and we’ll talk you through the costs to get the deal right for you before you agree to the change. *rubs hands together*”

“Certainly Mr Porsche, thanks for being so accommodating, I’m going to recommend you to my friends”

Not hard, is it?
