According to the oil pressure gauge, there is no difference. I noticed a bit of engine noise right before I changed the oil, Maybe valve train/chain noise, not sure. Could have been belt noise. Coincidence or not, after the oil change, I have not heard it again.

Here's the p/n for the Ford racing filter; purported to be the best option for our cars, but they aren't cheap. CM-6731-FL820
It fits perfect, but it's cylindrical without any facets to assist removal - not sure what kind of tool it will require to remove it when it comes time if it won't come off by hand.

An oil filter wrench.

An oil filter wrench.
I probably have 8 or 9 in my tool box; none would fit the new filter. The Ford racing filter is almost 4" in diameter, and as you saw space is at a premium; especially with the larger filter. If the FR filter had a scallop bottom it would be easy, but...

Not an issue now, but in 2,500 or 3,000 miles I'll need to get it off.

That should work! I'll find one online and post how it works on the much larger (diameter and length) Ford Racing filter.

I use it for the hydraulic filters on my tractor as well. If it's too tight just squeeze the heck out of it and it'll dimple it and you'll be able to take it off with no problem!
