Does anyone know if an aftermarket radiator will get in the way of a Centri? I’m deciding between a Centri and PD blower and am curious if a Mishimoto or DeWitts, etc, radiator will be too thick and block a Centri? Anyone have any insights it would be appreciated, thank you-

I have the CSF radiator with the Procharger HO intercooler. It was a tight fit.

Yea, that ^^^ the head unit won’t be the issue, but the intercooler could be 😉

Looks like the CSF is a 2 row and the Mishimoto is a 3… idk if I can go that route then. Might have to check dimensions from manufacturer. Are you aware if the CSF is bigger than the PP radiator?

I can’t answer for others but most aftermarket radiators will work on an ESS system. If you want to upgrade I’d consider the PP radiator. However, upgrading the radiator is pointless for the majority of applications. Unless you plan on road course racing in a hot climate I would just leave the factory radiator alone.

I have a base GT, everything I’m hearing is the PP radiator is a massive step up and there are some aftermarket (most?) that are massive step up from the PP one. Everyone also says heat is a major issue with Mustangs on the track, which I will do sometimes. Is it a non-issue on “pseudo-aggressive” street driving? I live in SoCal and it gets HOT where I’m at.

If you plan on road course racing i could see justifying the upgrade. I live in PHX and have a non PP radiator and it holds up fine.

I live in the San Fernando Valley. Base model 18 GT with a Vortech, Circle D converter, built trans, I've put 70k miles on my car, a lot of it sitting on the 405 between 7am and 9am and 4p and 7p. Raced my car at Buttonwillow and Willow Springs in the summer as well as Famoso and Las Vegas drag strip in summer.

Still have the factory radiator and half of it is blocked by the air to air. Never had an issue. Actually the Vortech overheated on the road course because its self contained. If I decide to road course it more, Ill put an oil fed unit on it

Wow. That’s crazy, I expected something very different… I might be fixing a problem that doesn’t exist.

These new cars arent like the old Fox bodies that needed bigger radiators. I only put a Reische 170 thermostat in, other than that, the coolung system is factory
I haven't raced my car at Buttonwillow or Willow Springs since I switched to E85, but it does run cooler on E.
I was on 91 and Vp100 when I ran the road courses in Summer.

I have the Large Procharger Intercooler and a massive 3.5" Mishimoto radiator. Seems to fit just fine. I don't remember struggling with them either.

Do you track/HPDE your car? If so, how are your CHT's? Mine absolutely suck in my PC'd 2016 GT.

I do not track the car even though I have a full BMR suspension. Not sure what CHT is, sorry. If you're talking temps IAT's are 65-90 pretty much all the time unless I do back to back runs then it might get to 105. My coolant Temps are weird only because I have an electric water pump in the fender. She runs between 170-200 just about always and I live in South Florida (100+ Summers).

Any chance you can post a pic next time you’re around the radiator?

Sure, what pics do you need exactly. I have YouTube videos where radiator cover is off. But if you need me to take close up pics I can.
