I don't understand why anybody thinks they areally a problem. Given the gear stick is to the left of them my arm sits on the other side of them (drinks between me and my arm) it all feels perfectly natural and if anything they would be more in the way if they were moved over to the left of the car imo

Can't see it being a real world problem. In my opinion. Personally won't be carrying drinks when out for a run.

I wish they could just do away with cup holders, I don't have a use for cup holders for cups but I do use them for stuff like sunglasses, mobile phones, pens, parking ticket, change etc.

Why can't they just have a removable insert. Use the cup holder insert if you want cup holders and remove the insert if you want storage space. Pat Pending.

And it's probably illegal to drink from a cup while driving.

Yes if you have a large drink in them (16oz size) it's a bit of a pain changing gear over it.

Its no more than slightly irritable at worse.
Just like touching your passengers leg when you use the handbrake!

Touch your passengers leg. Look over and wink at them and tell them it's a mustang and you are checking they haven't passed out by being seated in such a glorious steed! Or if it's your mother in law just say sorry and blush!

If you get an auto you can have your hand on your passenger's leg all the time. :)
