cali is just going to get worst from here
Unfortunately, a lot of states are going the CARB route. As Cali goes so does the nation, unfortunately.

never understood why California's rules that everyone says is terrible etc, becomes rule of the land for the rest in future. Fortunately Ohio doesn't have emissions testing of any sort. Can run test pipes if that floats your boat, just avoid the noise ordinance areas. Think one area in Cleveland for some reason, not sure why they do it but no one else.

edit.

guess Cleveland is making steps to eliminate it 100% from themselves too.

These are the only areas, eliminating it though. People are fighting against it though evidently as I am reading

Preaching to the choir brother!! I live in Cali near the beach and actually love it, but I am out of here once my youngest is out of high school in another year. You make $150,000 per year and you still don't have any money at the end of the month...

I hear you, I am from Alaska, made 150k a year as a 21 year old, and I wasn't broke, but dawg. a 3 bedroom apartment was going for 400k with no garage, I paid 3-4k a month rent, then bills etc. id bring home $ but I wasn't rich by any means.

im in Ohio and its piss poor state, I work less, earn more, but net more after everything. but I do miss Alaska's scenery/life like you mention the beach. Ohio's prices are climbing even, as people are swarming here due to cheap real estate/property. Hell my house I bought 150k 3.5 years ago already appreciated 50-60k and its going to keep climbing I feel

cali homes I read in the 2000s or 90s was like 200k, and now worth millions. absolutely mind blowing.

I'm an RE agent and lender. I can't even afford to buy here. My rent for a 2 bdrm townhome is $3500 per month. Iam only 600 meters from the beach though in a great town. My townhome if I were to buy it would be at least 1.2 million

Does anyone have any technical or engineering knowledge that the high flow or green cats do anywhere near as well as the stock cats at removing pollutants?
The short answer is it all depends on the catalyst slurry.
The lower cost offshore cats skimp on coating thickness and the slurry compound matrix.
If your after metal substrate high flow catalytic converters the best are the most expensive.
Emitec/ HJS are the best.
GESI is on Kooks offerings but will not guarantee that they’ll pass emission tests.

I am currently running texas speed long tubes, with a x pipe and borla mufflers.
1. no cats, equal smell. The smell is more noticeable when it's cold outside. The smell is strong when it's cold.
2. no cats sounds better.
3. tuners will not turn off rear cats, tuning on the dyno they will not turn them off, stupid huge EPA fines if they do. You need to get a fouler to trick the O2, sensors to not throw the check engine light. They do work.
4. I have the old type of Texas Speed long tubes with the fake cats. I have a extra set of cats to switch out if I ever need to get an inspection.
5. I don't ever get smells in the car with the windows up. I don't get smells in the cab when I am driving.
6. Cold starts are AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!

Michigan is the same way. I have no resonators and my car disappears next to a cam'd camaro or Harley at a stop light.

Definitely worth it imo but value comes down to the person. But if going boost should plan for it and just go catless.

Im not planning boost. However I dont have "a guy" to get me threw inspection here in NY. So catted was really my only option. I do want the power and sound.

I'm catted with long tubes. The power is there. I was just making the comment for anyone considering boost to skip cats.

Ah ok. I figured NA the power and sound loss was very small.

If stay NA then I would keep my stock cats. If I go boost then non cats, but where I am at do has emissions. I would look into getting the cats from the gt500 to weld in so I don’t have to swap the back the stock headers every 2 years
