Question for those that have heard many of the more popular exhaust set ups in real life..

I have not heard either of these in person that I am aware of but I am wondering how does a full catback system compare in sound to a stock active exhaust set up with only an X Pipe or H pipe set up?

Also how does the Borla Atak catback sound over the two set ups I just mentioned?

More, do any of you have experience with getting rid of the active exhaust set up completely in favor of a non active catback? I was thinking of going this route if it does not lead to any unintended consequences, specifically with the Borla Atak Catback non active version.

Lastly, if comparing Borla Atak Catback with active vs the version without active, is the non active version equivalent to the track mode setting of the active set up? Quieter? Louder?

Edit: I realize some dealers will do the X Pipe/H pipe install under warranty. Is this also extended to a full catback system, say the Borla Atak?

X pipe with active is amazing. Active exhaust was an absolute must for me... I absolutely love it now since adding a steeda x pipe.... Dont waste your money on changing the mufflers. Steeda X or H pipe can be had for 130-150$. try it first, very easy to change yourself. The sound is perfect. And quiet mode is still super quiet for them early morning starts to not piss off your neighbors.

OEM active seems pretty great. I would only change it if you want a different tone. Corsa will be more different to the OEM exhaust than Borla. With an X pipe the OEM active will be pretty loud.

I want deeper, louder IDLE and also more of a scream at top if possible. I don’t like how quiet the stock active is just sitting at a light. Like I want to skate the line of obnoxious as close as possible without actually crossing it.

I’ve read the forums and seen that most people say the Corsa is louder but less deep than the Borla. I honestly can’t tell much of a difference between the exhausts through video though.

Would there be any sort of performance upgrade going the full catback over the X or H? I heard both the X and H both have pros for performance but in different ways.

Doing the X pipe will do all that for you. Make sure you do an X that is a real crossover, like this one:

Would you say the x pipe with active is comparable to a roush catback, corsa extreme, or Borla Atak in loudness?

I have the money to do the full cat back now, so I would rather just go that way from the start if it is louder/better sounding than just an x pipe with active exhaust.

I’ve seen some of your posts and see you have experience with different cats. Do you know if it’s possible to drop the active system completely for a non active cat back?

It's close.

Why not one of the active aftermarket systems? I would definitely keep that feature if I had it, even if it means a more expensive catback. Corsa active would be awesome.

You can run it non active but I think you have to put a resistor in the circuit so you don't get a wrench lamp. I'm honestly not sure on the details.

It doesn't hurt to keep the active setup, exhaust have come a long way with these cars and it helps a ton. The only real downfall is the price point of those kits. If you would like to see what we can do on these kits for you, let me know. We have some killer prices right now. Lethalperformance.com
