Is there any performance difference, at all, between replacing the stock mid pipe with a ford racing x pipe + replacing the stock mufflers with more free flowing ones vs a full catback system?

The only thing I can think of that would impact anything is the small section of stock "intermediate" piping. Please correct me if I am missing something, I am totally novice to modding.

What I want to do in summary is buy the X pipe ($220) and the Flowmaster axle back ($400) and hook them up to the stock intermediate pipes, which if I am correct would give me the exhaust performance boost for $620 rather than $1000+, and save some weight too.

Thanks!

Pretty much what I did. Save the money! Catbacks do nothing for this car but make it sound cool. You get the same performance from an x-pipe and axle backs (weight reduction).

Someone can chime in if I'm wrong but its my understanding the stock pipe diameter is big enough........

so there is zero performance difference between leaving in the intermediate pipe and going cat back.

Two considerations: a catback install is less work (more bulky but no cutting)

You can go back to stock much easier.

It's plenty big enough and it has good bends so it's not crimped anywhere. I'm adding a Lethal resonator delete Hpipe and welding in new mufflers and tips in the morning. Saving a bundle over a catback.
