Gentlemen,

Need some help.

Dropped my 2019 R off at my local dealer in Apopka, Fl (North Orlando) for the install of the provided caster/camber plates that come with the R. I purchased the car in Atlanta GA. Spoke to the Dealer in Atlanta at purchase about them installing and their response was any dealer can install the plates.

I dropped the car off at my Apopka Dealer yesterday (Sunday). Call the service advisor today at 830 AM to make sure he seen the car. (We had agreed that I would drop it off on Sunday and he would get it in the garage today). He states he has the car and the SVT Mechanic will get it completed. Fast Forward to 430 PM today, receive a call from service advisor and now he is stating that Ford DENIED the work and I have to pay for the installation and alignment.

I have left a message for the Atlanta Dealer but the Sales Manager was out for the day. He has/was always very helpful, so I am going to start with him for help.

Is there anyone at Ford I can call?

Call Ford Customer Service. Explain your issue, complaint and what you want. They will open a case and a local regional representative will call you within the next business day.

Before calling FCS or the regional representative, I'd speak with your SM in Atlanta. Give him an opportunity to make things right before jumping the chain of command. It's the respectful thing to do since you indicate he's treated you well in the past. Just my two cents.

Agreed, that was going to be my task this morning.

Appreciate the comments.

How much do they want? If it's not a lot, maybe just pay and get it done. Yes, call the place you bought it from.

Didnt you already do your track alignment? The alignment comes after the camber plate install. I've done that job myself twice. Those monster bolts are one time use items. Make sure they replace them. Also, another common mistake is that when the top tower nut is tightened (while the strut is still compressed), many dont use an impact wrench. That nut needs to be tightened as per the installation instructions. If not, it will come loose.

They want to charge $630 for the work and the alignment.

I told the dealer to put the alignment to Track Specs...

Well, to be fair, it is a lot of work and then there is the aligment on top of it. I'm having my car aligned today.

Atlanta Service Manager called me back to state that he will speak to the Sales Manager tomorrow and they will get back to me.

Hoping for good news.

Depending on how much Camber you're looking for, you may want to just skip to Vorshlag plates directly :)

Update:

Called the Atlanta dealer that sold me the car. The Service Manager was awesome and took care of the issue.

He called the dealer here local and dealt with the confusion.

Picked up the car last night with the plates installed and track alignment completed.

Come on Daytona Track time next week!!!

what camber settings were you able to get? -2.2 up front like ford recommends?

Did they say if they could have added more?

have a blast at Daytona, that’s on my bucket list!

Someone please educate me here.
I assume the caster camber plates are part of the handling package along with the gurney flap.
I can see the selling dealership that ships a car not installing the flap but why wouldn’t they install the plates? Are they installed and set the way “you” want when you pick up the car? If so, why didn’t the selling dealership do it....per your specks.

Mine is an R, it is sold with the Caster Camber plants, we dont get the gurney flap.

They were supposed to install the plates, guess they forgot or they wait for the owner to want them installed. Dont know the answer to that questions.

The reason the selling dealership did not do it before I picked up the car. I made the deal with them verbally on the phone, left the next morning for the 7 hr drive, spent about 1.5 hrs signing papers, transferring belongings and hit the road south back home. Did not even think about the plates being installed for a few days later. A friend of mine who also purchased an R the day prior to my purchase reminded me of them, when I called, they were more than happy to send them to me.
