My weedeater sets mine off. Whenever I do yard work I have to remember to unlock the car or it will yell at me every time I rev the Toro.

Same! Okay glad to see others start to deal with the same issue. Though, I wish we didn't have to deal with it at all.

I had the random activation problem, too. Have the dealership adjust the sensitivity. Basically, ask when the "alarm guy" is there and he will fix it.

The car comes with a perimeter security system (motion sensors). The optional ESP locks the center console and steering column. This package also comes with the locking lug nuts.

The shock sensor feature is from the aftermarket KARR alarm the dealer already installed and persuaded you to pay for when you got to the Finance department. :ninja: When you bought it, someone simply turned it on. (The whole KARR alarm thing can be a touchy subject among many. We did indeed pay too much for it in hindsight, but oh well , not sweating it)

Yes!!! That! I just didn't know it was actually aftermarket because they sold it as a Ford thing. After you posted this, I looked into KARR and found that there should be an adjustment screw on the shock sensor. The question now is, where is the shock sensor?

I don't plan on deactivating it by any means. I just want to lower that sensitivity a little. Just enough so that I can go to car meets and walk away from my car without leaving it unlocked.

It was very expensive. But the way I see it, we paid for two things - an additional security measure, and the convenience of getting it done right then and there. Both of which, everyone is going to value a little differently.

Best to contact the installer to see where they typically mount the add-on shock sensor. Sometimes they are under the center counsel - ie, a central location of the car.

Yeah, only after reading the forum then looking at our paperwork did I cringe at the expense. (We got dinged with the sneaky BS $80 "document fee", too. So much for getting a decent deal on the car itself. Live and learn. Some on here were well-prepared going in to buy and knew the tricks. Now I do, too.) Some declined the KARR alarm. Some paid very little for it, if anything; and...some are too embarrassed to disclose how much they paid :p:headbonk:

A KARR rep actually came to the house to activate mine because the car was on the lot for such a brief period of time the alarm unit itself was not even installed yet until the morning of purchase (we picked it up quite late in the day). I don't want to say we have been 100% tricked into it, though, because hell, the stupid thing works! It is a little goofy to basically have different alarms stacked up versus, say, one Viper alarm or whatever, but, as long as they can work together I am cool with it.

One thing I don't like about KARR, however, is the extremely limited information readily available about it. I am not sure I ever even figured out the model number. I only know the company is based in Carlsbad. And I made sure to fill out those registration and warranty cards thoroughly and immediately.

FINALLY!!!!

Finally got access to the dealership added shock sensor and it's adjustment screw. *phew* after three days of some "geniuses" deciding it was a idea to go outside at about 1:30 AM and pop some M80 fire crackers and setting off my alarm in the process - I finally said enough is enough and took a trip to the dealership.

Anyway, for those dealing with a sensitive alarm due to the purchase of the dealer installed shock sensor, you can find the adjustment screw behind the passenger side footwell carpet underneath the glove box.

Pictures coming soon.

Interesting. Good to know. My alarm went off the other day when my friend rev'd next to it. Might need a slight adjustment myself lol.

I'll have to look for this. I was washing the car at the car wash(pressure washing) and the lights were going nuts. No audible alarm however, just lights flashing continuously.

If you have you fob anywhere near the car when you are washing it that will happen.

Happens to me too. My fob is usually in my pocket during the wash though so that's probably why. I had an issue with my audible alarm going off at anything. It was crazy.

In case someone ever runs into this issue again, here is how you adjust the sensitivity of the KARR alarm system. I also bought this system preinstalled from the dealer in early 2019. You should have a little box under your dash, possibly on the side wall under the steering wheel that has a green blinking LED and one single button. The procedure may be different if the LED color is not green.

1. Start the ignition by pressing the start button without your foot on the break.
2. Switch off the ignition by pressing the start button again.
3. Hold the button on the little box for 5 seconds. The car will honk ones to confirm that you're in the setup mode.
4. The LED flashes a certain number of times indicating the sensitivity level of the alarm system. For instance it will flash 5 times which means your sensitivity level is 5 out of 10 (10 is maximum sensitive).
5. To change the sensitivity level, press the button however many times you want the sensitivity to be. For example, press it 3 times if you want a sensitivity level of 3 (less sensitive) or 7 (more sensitive). The car will honk again to confirm the change.

That's it. Repeat the steps to double check if you changed the sensitivity level correctly.
