you gotta cut jay a little slack, he is very passionate about his company as some of us are.

also, in his ads, he has never directly attacked or specifically went after one companies product

until

the 2nd ad directly mentioning / picturing his product was used.

i can understand him being upset about it
well him calling people morons for buying the competition on facebook and saying our members here are full of shit and a joke because they switched from his product to the competition...why pay someone like that by buying their product? s550 crowd isn't first issue he's had. he's had plenty of run in's with s197 crowd too...but just my opinion. I won't support it. Roush or Steeda it is, in my case went steeda. so far so good.

Yeah I'm doing a non tune, thanks!
Why would you waste money on a non tune intake?

There will be no noticeable gains for your ~$300. The factory air box works extremely well with the stock tune and there isn't a reason to change it unless you are getting a tune.

Your are going to gain maybe 1.5-2% with the cai and you would gain about 9% with just a tune. For reference it takes about a 10% increase in HP for it to be noticeable.

If you're in the market for a CAI, we have a tune required version and a no tune required version. We've seen gains from both options :)

Here to help with any questions!
Dave - couple of questions for you:

Q1) So looks like the difference between the two is the "No Tune" version has some kind of flow restrictor in the system. Is the restrictor in the intake tube someplace? What's the restrictor made of - metal, plastic, ?

Q2) Also, on the open top CIA systems like this, is there any issue with water getting into the filter housing from the hood vents on the GT?

Q3) Does your system come with plugs is someone wants to also remove the sound tube when installing the CAI?

Hi there,

1) Yes, a restrictor is in place for the 'no tune' version. It is inserted into the velocity stack and is made of billet aluminum.

2) There could be some water that gets in there, although it's not enough to affect anything.

3) Yes, includes a plug for the firewall as well!

Just to add to what David mentioned above. From what I can see the filter element isn't located directly below the heat extractor vent, its close but I believe if water did pour down through the vent it would mainly go into the box and then out the drain hole in the bottem. Hydrolock shouldn't be an issue.
