I could care less about the weight, the new z06 is going to be a sick car.

True to a degree. The point is, it seems most cars are gaining weight. People flipped out about the weight gain of the new Mustang. Now the Vette is getting a bit plump as well. 3600 lbs fully loaded?

Car is no doubt a great performer.

New camaro will be 3,400lbs.

..in all seriousness, crash standards get stricter every year, cars need to become safer every year, and at least in the US, there is no real driver education and training so we need to protect our horrible drivers.

By comparison, the old 2,800-3,200lb cars that we all wish modern cars would weigh are death traps by comparison. A fiberglass Corvette bathtub, Jag E-type, late 60s stang, BMW 2002, 240z, AC cobras, you name it do not hold up well to wrecks.

Adding 226lbs over the base Stingray is pretty substantial. Obviously, that's mostly blower and supporting parts and fluids. That being the case though, that'll mean that the weight distribution may have been skewed a bit.

This car will be a monster in every performance category. Comparing it to a base Stingray doesn't make much sense to me. Add the Z51 package and then compare them "base to base".

You say that it's plump, but with 650+ hp, it comes out to less pounds per horse than the old Z06 (1LZ to boot, which didn't have as many options, thus a bit lighter). I figured a 2012 1LZ Z06 comes in at 6.3 lbs. per horse, while the 2015 Z06 (which is going to be a BEAST) comes in at 5.5 lbs. per pony. I'll also throw in the ZR1, which beats them all at 5.38 lbs. per horse, but would still get beat by the Z06 too.

In comparison, the 2014 GT500 comes in at 5.8 lbs. per horse, but even as close as they are in numbers, the Z06 would TOAST it! That's just my opinion though.

I think that one of the smartest things that GM did was make the Z06 available with both transmissions. MY prediction is that they sell more A8's than manuals. Ford should do that with the GT350/500 too. It's good to have something different, but the idea is to sell cars and automatics Please the masses and sell more cars!

I have to say that I'm a GM Guy at heart (I have had some Nice Fords too, and am planning to come over to Ford with this New Stang, as it lays waste to GM's newest F Bods), but I'd have bought a 2014 662 hp GT500 if it was available with an automatic!

IS THIS REAL LIFE. This is the steal of a lifetime.

Loaded = 1YZ07 Coupe + 3LZ + Z07 + CFV + Dest. fee = $99,635

That is still a bargain when you put things in perspective.

Yeah, that Z06 is going to be crazy.

I still wish they had a normally aspirated version with ~520 HP that was lighter than the Z51 as a more focused track car, but it's tough to argue with 650 HP.

The price is very good for what you get as well.

Can't wait to configure one on GM's website, and then compare it to the GT350 in a year.

Some great cars coming out, that's for sure.

That's why they built the Z/28. It's got the Z06's LS7 in it and is pretty much track ready right out of the box!

I read that the GT350 was going to sport a flat plane crank motor, which should help it rev to the moon (and sound AWESOME too). The problem with those is that they need those rpm's to make power up top and lose some bottom end. I'm looking forward to see what Ford has in store for it!

I do agree that there are some KILLER cars coming out!

This is a little more powerfull than ZR1 and almost $30 000 cheaper. And I bet it will handle better than ZR1. That's a bargain.

We rally have a Killer cars season! Charger/Challenger Hellcat, ATS-V, CTS-V, Z/28, C7 Z06.
