I noticed a dent on my car a few days ago, maybe someone with a tow hitch backed into my car while at the grocery store or something. I haven't had time to bring it anywhere, just curious if you guys think this is something that can be popped out by one of those pdr shops.

Nope. The bumper cover is made of plastic (don’t recall the name of it at the moment). The impression is permanent. Body shop may be able repair and repaint. Buddy of mine had his GT 350 front bumper repaired from track debris damage by this method.

Not poppable. But that said, it’s under the stripe. It’s repairable in that area only and can have the stripe reapplied to cover the repair. You don’t have to repaint it necessarily. It’smjust a matter if that would bother you or not.

I had a very similar kind of dent/damage from someone hitting me in a Trader Joe’s parking lot just days after taking delivery. I have a fantastic paint guy that does house calls. He fixed it in my driveway and the results are perfect. I am not sure exactly what he did as far as filling/leveling the depression but there is no sign of it any longer.

It's ABS, and yes, PDR can repair it. It looks like the stripe wasn't damaged, great news, they are expensive.

Find the best PDR guy around and go from there

Wondering if taking the bumper off and repairing it from the inside is the route PDR would go so as not to damage the stripe? There’s a plastic stabilizer in the bumper that pops out to get at the grille, removing that should give pretty clean access to that section of the bumper if I recall correctly from when I had mine off earlier this spring.

I believe the bumper cover would be removed and heat applied to the dent. It would be reworked to shape and that should be the end of that.

You are correct! I bumped a curb in my MACh1 and buggered the chin spoiler. I asked my wife's cousin if it could be fixed or if I should buy a new one. 3 hrs later after being heated with a 500 watt light and a few minutes of re-shaping with paint sticks, it was fixed without a trace. He showed me a divot in the bumper cover and asked if I wanted it taken out. Same process.....heat....shape and then ice water to cool.

That's the basic principle, yes. The people who are good at it can make impossible repairs happen.
