Bullitt mods

That's why I'm doing this step by step and, saving the OEM resonator. It's pretty free flowing according to my tuner. I ordered Flowmaster mufflers this morning instead of the Borla S Type. Flowmaster has a lifetime warranty on the entire enchilada including the valves. Borla only covers them for three years. Sucks. I live in a fairly dry area of TX, unlike the gulf coast and the salt air issues. Still, it's nice knowing the actuators are covered for the life of the muffler. Once the headers, mid pipe and, Flowmasters are installed and, the car gets tuned, I'll ride with it for a while before I drop the coin for the blower.

for me the reason i love borla is because borla is essentially ford perfomance. the old KR GT500 came with s types from the factory.

Nope, but went back looking for it, and it does mention the torque (60 ft/lbs). And the inserts prevents crushing indeed. My only unanswered question is if it affects the ride. Does anybody know? It shouldn't IMO, but want to make sure . And if the answer is no, then just wait for the next sale .

As I ordered them over the weekend, I can call LM performance and switch to the Borlas as that was my first choice. They open at 8 EST.

Hey guys, contemplating buying a bullitt. How is the shifter?
I have a mgw in my 15 and am worried I’d have to upgrade the bullitt’s too.

But it has to add noise inside the cabin, even in quiet mode, no? That'd be a deal-breaker for me. Besides, I drove a Bullitt a few days ago, and the sound was just incredible. Can't imagine it sounding any better in sport. And it certainly doesn't have to be louder IMO. But I don't like to make noise just for the hell of it. And yes, I'm 58, so an old fart in the eyes of young punks. Ha ha.

Gas cost was tongue in cheek statement. Peeps in CA need to give their elected officials the boot IMHO. No excuse for such high gas taxes. I will though most likely rent an eco box from Budgit. From where I am in TX, the loop to see all out west would add roughly 4k unneeded miles to the Bullitt.

I'll give my impressions of the BMR CB006 4-point chassis brace that I ended up converting to a 2 piece (essentially a CB007) when I had it on my 2016 GT.

The front of the CB006 bolts directly to the lower control arms and the harshness over bumps and those asphalt join strips across the road was too much for me. I ended up cutting the 2 front arms off to make it a 2-point brace and no change in harshness there as the back doesn't bolt to a suspension piece that's itself bolted to the wheels as the front arms do.

I will admit that my 2016 was flatter & faster through the turns than my Bullitt but I did have it lowered with 285's all around as well as the 2-pt brace.

I plan on putting the brace on the Bullitt at some point to see if I notice an improvement.

haven’t seen it.... but did you install the IRS rear brakes, bushings and shim Kit?? The difference was immediately incredible!!! Do this one first if you haven’t already!!....The front Mod will do the same!! Steeda makes good shit...Period!! I installed their Clutch Assist Spring..... why didn’t I do this Mod before!! Love it!!

other than the Whipple....and the addition of my Roush spoiler.... I’ve almost got a “McQueen Edition!! “

“Affect the Ride”... if you mean will it make it better??... I’m installing the Cross Brace today, I’ll report back after some driving!! Freeway on/off ramps on on my list of 1st do do.....at speed of course!!!

Nope. Haven't touched the car mechanically. Nor was I planning to, except that front lower bar, if it doesn't make the ride stiffer. Did you change those 3 things on a Bullitt? The problem is I'm almost sure different bushings and shims will make the ride/noise worse, no?

Of course not; that's not going to happen. Lol. Just not make it worse. Please let us know when you're done. I want to do relatively cheap (and light) handling mods that don't negatively affect ride . Thank you.

If you want to make your BULLITT better and reasonable mods... I installed the Steeda Clutch Assist Spring!! Sheep-Shit!!...should have been my 1st Mod!! Factory 185lb vs Steedas 85lb!! Much easier on the leg and the clutch feel is amazing!!

It's actually LESS easier on the leg (85 vs 185 lbs) . Unfortunately, the spring doesn't really change how or where the clutch bites, so I don't see the need, to be honest. And yes, this is the trickiest clutch to master of all the manual cars I've owned over the decades. I'm very smooth when driving sedately now, by releasing the clutch completely (which has to be done in a certain way), before applying gas. But what I have yet to master is when I need to shift relatively quickly; I'm still being a bit jerky. But I'm working on that.

not sure if you just don’t know, don’t do research, watch the videos or ...just need a bigger spoon to stir the pot here??? So Little Gwasshoppah.... Steeda spring is actually 35lbs..(I corrected my error in post!!)
Get under the dash and see how your clutch pedal actually works and what the clutch assist spring actually does!! Push it in all the way with your hand!!, tough job huh!!! After the Steeda install depress again with your hand, then report back to us for you lesson of the day results!! We just want to know ...”which one is easier???? ...and really, where do you get your info...jut make it up as you go??

pls answer this... which one would be harder to grab both ends and open them?? Now consider this is what your leg does!! You depress the clutch....it opens the spring!! Simple really if you take the time to do some simple research...watch the videos that the guys post here to help people like you... then you will learn.

“trickiest clutch” you say..... with the lighter spring it will actually give you greater feel of exactly where and when the clutch is engaging... or you could watch your tach...in 1st gear....clutch fully depressed, start to release and your RPM’s will increase...a computer thing by the way!! (These cars have computers you know!)
@bjstang ... do you have anything to add??....anyone else explains this better so Eli will understand?? Pls read the other ember posts that have made this Mod!!...

I actually understood it the same as elp said. Yes, the stock spring is stronger but the way it's set-up I thought made the stock clutch lighter (ie. the stronger spring provides more assistance to your leg).

Having said that, I may be wrong.
