Was curious what if anything you guys are doing to keep bugs from clogging up the rad or are you doing anything to wash them off. I would think it could get fairly clogged before the end of summer

Wow. I think you better move. I have never heard of that in my 50 years of driving. I’ve lived everywhere and that is a new one to me. Spray your car down my friend with RAID.

When I make 4-wheeling trips with my Jeep Wrangler April and May time frame to Moab, UT, I drive I-70 thru Rocky Mountains. My windshield would be covered with dead bugs, and I'll be forced to stop and scrub them off. I wear rubber gloves when doing so because you can smell rotting dead bugs when scrubbing and cleaning windshield.

I use house windows screens purchased from hardware store to cover my radiator to keep bugs from clogging radiator fins. No cleaning is necessary because over time rain or car washing get them off. Of course, my muscle Mustang is equipped with such protection.

I removed my air box tube and placed a sparrows nest with a momma sparrow down between my grille and radiator on the impact bar.

The momma sparrow eats the bugs out of radiator. She really loves the dragon flys.

Unbeknownst to city slickers, mosquitos, flies and bugs are bad in rural mountains and deep woods in Alaska. So bad, I could no longer see out the front windshield going 70-75 mph.

It's either dead bugs or stupid bird from Jerry Seinfeld show.

We got the cicadas here right now.

Just everywhere, lots of them. Big gooey splats all over the car.

I place simple window screen in front of the radiator attached with zip ties. Also help keep the rocks from hitting the rad. Just hose it off every few weeks and no issues!

For us here it's more the mosquito's or the moth's.
In a dry year the grasshoppers can be a big problem.

I was just thinking about this on my car - might have to try the window screen...

Yes all of my cars from new have the cheap fiberglass window screen zip tied and placed behind the grill in front of the radiator / condenser. Such cheap insurance especially with the flying rocks and road junk. Never had any overheating issues but if you should, just rip away. Also have headlight clear overlay film from Lamix. Works very well and no aging yellow lens on my 12 year old Lincoln.
