So I broke my 3-4 shift fork. I was actually shifting with my fingertips when it broke, admittedly at 7k rpm, but by no means a destructive action in my opinion.
So, what am I in for? The car's at 33k miles, no mods except performance pack brakes.

Since the tranny has to come out, I read it's a must to properly weld ALL shift forks, since they reportedly have only 4 spot welds, rather than full welds. And also to replace all plastic components, now that you'll be in there. Saw a video with all the details posted somewhere on this forum, if you want to search (or on YT). That alone should make the tranny a lot more reliable. The guy said the forks are actually pretty sturdy, so no need to replace them; just weld them better. Hope this helps, and good luck.

Update for other people who find this later while searching:
The car was dropped off at 9:30 Wednesday, at 3:00 Thursday, I got impatient and called to see how it was going, half expecting the answer to be that they hadn't gotten to look at it yet.
To my pleasant surprise, the trans is out of the car and almost rebuilt, except for one missing shim they've sourced from another dealer, since it was backordered from Ford. I'll post again once the car is back in my garage, but so far this is looking very painless.
