Does anyone know if the MGW shifter or the transmission has stops built in to prevent damage to the shift forks or pads? I know the stock plastic pads are likely to be damaged with the stock shifter. I am curious if they are more or less likely to be damaged after an aftermarket shifter is installed. I would love to hear what you guys have to say.

I damaged mine with the stock shifter. Trans was replaced under warranty, and MGW went in at the same time. Haven't had an issue since.

Do you know if the MGW has stops built in to protect them?

TBH, no clue. Just saying that I haven't had the issue you're describing since I installed my MGW.

thought damage to the forks happens when you are trying to force it in during a lockout. MGW wouldnt have lockout because its aligned all the time

You may be right I am new to the MT-82. I assumed the damage was the stress put on the part under hard shifting. I assumed an aftermarket shifter would increase the stress because the shock absorbing rubber in the stock shifter is removed. I may be completely wrong though.

I like to disassemble things.
MGW doesn't eliminate the bushing between the main shifter arm and the transmission body (some others do).
