Brembo Brakes

The 4 piston stock GT brakes are no slouch in their own right.

I aint going to lie they are very grabby. My wife even said something when she drove it for the first time.

The Brembo's should be better, but when it comes to stopping.

Brake pad compound and tires make a huge difference.

I don't is just me but my 2015 PP brakes were little more responsive than my Shelby.

The stock brakes on the Mustang GT are 4 piston Brembos minus the fancy painted caliper or markings. Ford doesn’t market it that way because you possibly wouldn’t opt for the Performance Pack with 6 piston Brembos.

Well Rocketman that propoganda came right directly from the head of Roush Vehicles at Autonation Ford in Katy, TX that the stock brakes are 4 piston Brembos. That is not the only source of that info either. I don’t care either way because 4 piston or 6 piston probably 95% of the owners never use the brake set up to its capacity or it’s intended use. I think what fools people is they look like Brembo's.

When the S550 first came out I assumed they were too. Since the rotors were 14"s. I thought it was the Brembo's from PP last gen mustang.

Mistakes are made even by the big cooperations. I personally took out 3 sets of non brembo and it is stamped on the caliper that is made by continental.

They may not be "made" by Brembo so yes, they are not Brembo. They are a very close clone and likely Ford or Continental has paid Brembo for the rights to produce the unbranded brakes based on Brembo patents. That's how production works. Think generic products produced by say General Mills but marketed as Wal-Mart brand etc.

Continental designed the 4 pot GT/EB PP caliper. No part of it is Brembo, outside the requested specification from Ford that it match the performance of the S197 Brembo brakes.
You can find the caliper's first cousin on certain Audi's.

To the OP's question; there is too much difference in the brake systems to make it cost effective as a stand alone option. They also know that a cheaper option of Brembo brakes would result in fewer of the more expensive PP packages being sold.
