What is the difference between the cradle aligment inserts and the cradle support bushings. Is one better then the other.I know the inserts align the cradle and the other keeps the cradle from deflecting, but do u really need both or what one would be recommended for drag racing?

I think he's referring to the steeda inserts that go around the bolts and bushing isolators.

I recommend doing the BMR cradle lock out kit coupled with the steeda alignment kit. Easy install. There's two part numbers for the alignment kit too. Or you can cut down a regular insert.

The lockout kit was amazing for how well it stabilized the ass end. It way more solid and predictable now. There's still some wheel hop, but it is much improved.

The alignment inserts will do just that, align the cradle. But the BMR CB005 does a good enough job apparently of aligning the cradle. But the cradle lockout or cradle bushings (if you want to go that far) will support the cradle so that it will reduce or eliminate movement.

The result is a much more stable rear end and in turn, more predictable handling. In stock form, this car was a goat in slower tight turns. Unpredictable handling leads to dangerous situations. If you try to peel around a corner and find your car pointing the other direction, that's the kind of thing that can happen. After putting on the cradle lockout, it improved significantly. It's good all purpose mod. Takes a lot of the unpredictability out of the equation. It's not a one part fixes all - but it's a great all around improvement for any situation.

Excatly, just didnt want to start a steeda/bmr,who's better war lol.Great feedback.Thats what i was wondering if the bmr lockout kit did do a good job of aligning and locking down the crable. The new Steeda cradle support braces tie in the cradle in 3 different spots, not sure if that makes them better at stopping movement though.

We have not seen a need to use bracing of any sort with our Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit.

We have shipped thousands of CB005 with nothing but excellent feedback. I also use them on my personal cars.

As for the alignment, I have had my cradle lowered on my daily driver 5 times in the past 3 weeks (after I did my alignment on the car) and I checked it yesterday, and it's still within my tolerances and well within spec. That said, Steeda sells the centering sleeves for a good price and I would never steer people away from it. It just isn't "needed".

Also, for those who want to combine the BMR Cradle Lockout with the Steeda Braces, we do have a $119.95 CB010 option that combines the best bushing support design with their bracing.

These are the parts I have related to this discussion. Can't recommend them enough.

- Steeda 555‑4437 - IRS bushing supports
- Steeda 555-5754 - Subframe Braces
- Steeda 555‑4438 - Subframe alignment inserts

The Steeda IRS bushing supports fill the gap left by the stock bushing front and back entirely, with no unnecessary space left (they are not "super easy" to install as a result sometimes, but use some suspension lube and you'll get them in just fine). The subframe braces shore up the IRS movement front to back, left to right, and helps to prevent chassis flex. Only thing I don't like about them is that they're painted silver. They also add a jacking point for the rear of the car to avoid jacking on your pinch weld. The alignment inserts solved the fact that my driver's side rear wheel stick out more than the passenger side and they also work to stiffen the OEM bushing. I can now drop my IRS and put it back up without fighting it to get bolts started, and those bolts, if crossthreaded, will cut their own threads easily (which is what they do to create the threads at the factory, I think).

The BMR cradle lockout I can tell you reduces movement in any direction. It's widely regarded in this forum of as a can't miss mod and best mod for the buck.

Correct Ryan.

It does it's intended job so well, that like I stated above, we have not seen a need to add additional components to help it perform better.

That last tad bit of movement that occurs when really making big power or really launching high on slicks etc, can be removed by our BK048 Delrin Bushing Kit.

That is the beauty with our product line, we cater to a wide range. :headbang:

Yes, indeed. The only way to improve upon the CB005 is replacing the bushings themselves altogether, but by then you're increasing NVH to a higher level for racing and drag strip.

I only did the steeda insert kit to add more piece of mind and it's 40 bucks. The cradle lockout kit should align everything fine, but the rear cradle bolts still have a huge amount of slack around them.

I didn't experience any additional NVH with both kits.
