Try out the Barton before buying/installing. For me, the shift throws are way too short. I wouldn't want something like that in a DD. It would work well on a track though. I'll probably be going with the Blowfish bracket and retain the stock shifter. Tired that combo as well and liked it a lot.

Have you tried the 2015 shifter or was this on an 11-14? The 2015 is completely different and if the throw reduction is to much for you, then a simple cartridge swap will change the throw reduction. The spring pressure can be changed as well.

I tried it on a 2015 Ecoboost. Interesting, I knew the spring pressure can be adjusted and was under the impression that the throw length can be adjusted as well, but the guys at CJ PP said the throw length cannot be adjusted. If it can be adjusted, I'd certainly put it back on my radar since that was the only issue I had with the shifter.

All our dealers sell the 25% reduction. Once the shifter is installed the cartridge can be swapped out in less than 10 minutes and that is all done from inside the car. We have an exchange program set up where you just send us the cartridge and we can send you a 20% or 15% reduction cartridge. If ordered direct from us you have your choice of throw reduction, but our dealers only stock the 25% and we handle all the exchanges because it would just be to many items for everyone to stock.

Good to know Dave, I wasn't aware of that. I thought I remembered there would be different options but I know all ours are 25%

Thanks! 15% would be perfect.

I had an MGW on my S197(non race-spec version) and loved it. From the prior experience I went with them again on my S550 and it's SO MUCH better than stock. The throw reduction is perfect IMO and there's absolutely no missing gears anymore.

The install wasn't too difficult (but I did have a lift) except for accessing the bolt on top of the trans. Honestly the most difficult part was getting the rubber shift boot around the lip of the shifter at the end haha.

The shift experience is incredible. There is slightly more transmission noise, but it gets rid of the slight rattle from the plastic reverse collar so it's a fair trade off. Also, the noise is so subtle that if you have the radio on to any audible volume at all you can't hear it.

I'll be switching my tranny fluid to Amsoil or Royal Purple soon and i can't wait to feel the combo of the MGW and new fluid.

Will the barton work with the blowfish?

Im not sure if the spacing is the same but looks like the two posts on the end of the barton that go into the bushing mount are the same as on the blowfish bushing. Wonder if you can just slip the blowfish right over those posts instead

Id consider a barton or other full short throw assembly if it will work with my blowfish as there is no way id give it up. If not I could always do the steeda tri ax which is just the lever

Mustang is new to me but I've changed out a few shifters in my time..
Clarification (for me), *reduction* - in throw distance or effort? They are related.. The term is used interchangeably here..
Thoughts of the current providers on NVH?
For me, love a short, quick shift but I probably won't race the car (track or strip); Stock is so L-O-N-G...as it stands..
Money aside - your thoughts??

Thanks!
