Ok. I want to hear war stories and opinions on which is the best way to go!

There is no best, pick based on your preference.

-MGW is the most complete for the street enthusiast. Mounts to transmission instead of body, replaces every component of the shifter assembly.

-Barton is less involved in installation at this time, future updates will closely match the MGW according to Barton rep Dave. Has adjustable shift throws.

-Blowfish is only the bracket, but is truly a solid transmission mount for the shifter eliminating deflection from engine torque and also adds a driveshaft safety loop. Allows use of stock or other aftermarket shifters(not MGW Race-spec).

I own a Blowfish bracket along with a JHR shifter on my 2011 5.0 and I think it's freakin' awesome.

I didn't have to to elaborate earlier but IMO the Barton is an excellent shifter. All of the shifts are silky smooth and positive, you know without a doubt that you're in the next gear. I haven't come close to a misshift, and it has none of the slop that the stop shifter had. With stock I occasionally got the 3rd gear grind, but not one with the Barton.

Also I something that was huge for me is that Barton showed the best customer service that I have ever seen from any company ever.

We love the MGW, we have been using MGW for many years and they have never given us a reason to look elsewhere. Have felt the Barton in customer cars, and can;t say anything bad about it, we just prefer MGW from prior experience.

+1 for Barton. Excelent feel, confident shifts.

Had the MGW in prior Mustangs and it was great too. Just wanted to try Barton on the S550.

Which one has a different style reverse lock-out?
Currently Barton has the stock pull up ring reverse mech. and MGW has the push down to reverse action.

From what I've read Barton announced that they will produce a push down version in the future and MGW said they will have a stock pull up reverse version in the future as well.

Looks like an effective cure for the 2-3 mis-shift problem. Def be included in my next mod order.

Just installed the Blowfish. Amazing difference in feel and the odd "nibble" I think everyone calls it is gone in 1-2 and 2-3. Just snicks right into gear. Feels a lot tighter and a lot more precise. Noticeably more vibration but in a good, connected to the machine kind of way. Not harsh at all by my reckoning. The noise profile is slightly, just barely more mechanical. Again - you'd really have to have the A/C and radio off to hear it (I'm running a Borla S-Type cat back which also masks stuff a bit). Between the cost, 25 minute, no broken plastic clips and no cussing install as well as the easier conversation with the service manager if the MT-82 craps out...made sense to me. Let me put it into perspective - I prefer the stock shifter/Blowfish combo to my dad's S2000 shifter. Really.

All that being said - I think the MGW is a work of art and I'd love to have one magically installed on my car. Not quite sure why the Barton is re-using the stock shift linkage but I'm sure it works really well too. Just for me, the calculus favored the Blowfish.

Try out the Barton before buying/installing. For me, the shift throws are way too short. I wouldn't want something like that in a DD. It would work well on a track though. I'll probably be going with the Blowfish bracket and retain the stock shifter. Tired that combo as well and liked it a lot.

Which cars had the Barton and Blowfish? Did you ever drive mine? Can't remember.
