I use 'the force' when lane changing f that other stuff lol

I like to look for new cars that have BLIS on their side mirrors, and then ride their blind spot and make their BLIS alert toggle

I'd say it's extremely accurate and would even say it's had a 100% success rate so far. I rely on it and my situational awareness, but I never turn my head.
The thing is I don't want to use some electronics telling me if there is a vehicle next to me or not. If I get into an accident because of of that, Ford is not gonna pay for the damages. I prefer having the little convex mirrors instead of BLIS.
The other thing is BLIS range is limited if I stop on a ramp yielding vehicles.

When I traded my 401A black car for the 400A silver car the first thing I noticed and missed was the BLIS option. Nice feature IMO

I got the message with my adaptive cruise in heavy rain. I figured it was something to do with the sensors being blocked.

It is a nice feature, I always forget about it, look in my mirror then over shoulder and then I'll remember and check that as my last step sometimes. Does seem very accurate.

I agree with Will. Most of the time on the interstate, just glancing in the rear view you already know what cars may be in your blind spot when it comes to changing lanes. I still look over my shoulder when getting on the interstate, but not anymore when changing lanes. Just not needed.

Some of you are a little over the top with your "You must be arrogant to not trust a computer! That's not safe!" comments. I'm sure you guys trust that the computer will deploy an airbag on a collision right? Do you trust that your home security will go off in the event someone tries to break in?

If you have BLIS and want to still look over your shoulder, good for you. Don't bash people for using BLIS for what it is designed to do.

I trust seatbelts and I don't have security system at home because people will break in when they want to. Do you think your car security system is gonna keep people breaking into it?
Yes it's a nice feature but same with backup sensors. Do you trust them? When was last time you heard someone backed their car into something only relying on the sensors?
Sensors are not eyes. They don't tell you how fast a vehicle is traveling in your blind spot. Do you trust your stability system and ABS when driving in blizzard? I bet you still would slow down for the condition because you don't trust them.
Like I said it's nice to have but it has limitations and for that I prefer the convex mirrors instead of a small light telling me what's next to me.
Not bashing on people using it but just stating that relaying on it is idiotic.

BLIS is meant to supplement, it isn't a replacement to doing what you were presumably taught when learning to drive. It can't tell you if a car is merging from another lane, among other things.

How fast does the BLIS warn you if you wanna change lane and there's a car going 120 miles up quick?

You think looking over your shoulder is going to matter with a car going 120 lol? He would be nothing but a blur if he was that close to you.

I was taught how to adjust my side mirrors so that I don't have a Blind Spot. It works very well. A car to the left or right of me is in one of three places where I can see it. As they approach me they are in the rear mirror. As they get closer they move from the rear to the side mirror. As they leave the side mirror they are right next to me. No Blind spot. I ordered my car with the 401A package and Blis will be on. When driving there is no such thing as too much information about the cars around you.

Not even close to 25 yards.

The detection area is on both sides of your vehicle, extending rearward from the exterior mirrors to approximately 10 feet (3 meters) beyond the bumper.
