On Sunday, I was driving in heavy rain and got an error message telling me that BLIS was no longer working and to refer to the owner's manual.

After the rain subsided, I pulled over and turned off the car. Restarted it and proceeded on my way and BLIS was working again.

Looked at the owner's manual when I got home and one of the things it said was that heavy rain and snow can interfere with the radar sensors, which are located behind the bumper fascias.

It also says that no action is required, as the system will start working again once the rain or snow decreases or stops.

Seems to be working fine now, and I'm assuming all is well.

Anyone else experience this in heavy rain or snow?

Only car I've had with blind spot was my 14 Mazda6 and never had any issues with it in the rain or snow, no matter how hard it was coming down. Only issue I had was it was annoying as fuck turning in a dual turning lane with it beeping at you. If only people knew how to use mirrors they wouldn't be needed.

I don't think this system beeps. It just flashes a little yellow light on the exterior mirror if someone is in your blind spot. I don't rely on it when changing lanes. I'm an old fart who has to look in the side mirror and look back over my shoulder, but it is kind of cool how it works.

I don't trust systems like this so I got the 400A.

I'd say it's extremely accurate and would even say it's had a 100% success rate so far. I rely on it and my situational awareness, but I never turn my head.

I experienced a temporary failure today when the temps dropped to 32 degrees, which caused the left rear indicator to display along with the dash alert. When the temps peaked into the 50's all good again. I've had similar systems on other cars and never saw this. Like most of you, driving experience takes over and it's not a deal breaker, but I don't like warning lights illuminating unless I want them to (like in Track mode).

/facepalm, I seriously hope you're joking. Never trust safety features like this ESPECIALLY in bad weather conditions. My last car had this, and there were a lot of false positives in snow/ice conditions, or it would detect a car in the blindspot when it was too late. Use your head. ;)

I'm not joking. I honestly think it's 100% accurate.

BLIS errors...

The BLIS on my convertible usually starts giving 'errors' whenever there is a heavy rain. I appreciate having BLIS but look 'into' the mirror anyway rather than trying to spot the little yellow blinking light.

You don't have to use. To not get a package because of one feature is a little asinine. I assume that really you either didn't want to pay for the package or want anything else in it.

You can either ignore the little yellow dot in your side mirror or turn it completely off in vehicle settings.

It should be a part of what you check, but not turning your head is just silly and not a good habit. It will tell you what's in the adjacent lane but, it could either malfunction or someone could merge into the lane at the same time. I agree it's very accurate, but to rely only on it was not what was ever intended.

Wow I really hope you're not that arrogant or it will be an expensive day for you one day in the near future driving like that.

This must explain how the public has gotten so stinking bad at driving just blindly relying on tech rather than actual driving skill or common sense. Blind spot can HELP in your visual checks for something you missed in a blind spot, but was never intended to replace actually looking as it is far from perfect in all scenarios.
