Black Painted Roof

How is the black painted roof option handled? Is it done on the paint line or is it a separate operation like the OTT painted stripes? I couldn't find any discussions for this on the forum and was wondering if it extends the production time.

Jim: I honestly don't know for sure but I think it's done during the normal painting process after the body color coat (if it even gets that..save a penny, save a dime.) :-)

I've done it both ways. If you want a black roof, painted is the way to go. If you buy a car with stripes on the top and you want a black roof, then vinyl wrap is the way to go.

The painted roof is done as a separate step. The cars are painted by robot. After the fact, a person masks the area and paints it black.

On the GT350R, it was the same as the wing. I don't know if anyone ever figured it out. It has a metallic sparkle
