Black intercoolers??

Has anyone powdercoated theirs? Not sure if I want a shiny intercooler, thinking about blacking it out. Two things to consider is does it decrease the heat transfer capabilities and does it last? Don't want it to start chipping a few months in. Share any pics you have if you wish or your input on the subject.

Couple folks have used a black heat resistant paint like VHT. I would stay away from powder coating.

I wouldn't powder coat something made for heat transfer. Paint (including powder coat is basically plastic). Powder coat usually goes on thicker than paint. Plastic does not conduct heat very well. I'd use a paint like Eastwoods Radiator paint and don't go hog wild building up the thickness. I haven't used the stuff but plan to. Just my 2cents.

I got the black option on my Paxton. The only way people can tell I have a SC is by the jet sound. But to answer the question, I think the way it's hidden behind your cover and bumper, you'll be fine with any color.

Anodizing would be the only choice. Wonder what paxton does on their's

Mine intercooler tanks are powder coated and my fins are painted with Eastwood radiator paint.

Used VHT engine paint. Talked to PC before i did this...very light coats of paint...just enough to hide the shiny...PC said no issue, I have seen no issue at all after 5000 miles of FI.
