Maybe some dumb questions but I ask anyway. My car is a DD, bought in March and got 16K on it already. I dont drive it much during heavy rain or bad weather, got a truck for that.

- do the folks here that put on larger tires from stock 255/275/19 to 275/305 or any combination larger result in a reduction of MPG? I average 24.5Mpg. I’m probably looking at la 275 square or likely a 275/285, not sure I need 305’s.

- moving to 20’s do you see a harsher ride due to the /35 tires vs the /40’s? I do like the ride of my car.

- do larger front tires tramline more?

- is it normal that the stock front tires ‘19 PP! 255’s tent to tramline as they get miles on them...I got 16K on mine and it appears to be the case

Just looking at new wheels and tires and trying to get a feel for what I might experience. I like the car as it is and I dont know what I might get out of larger tires and wheels,

Thanks folks!

I was looking to upsize stock pp1 wheels a tad to 265/285 staggered. But, most 285’s are 285/35/19 which is shorter sidewall. Comparing that to 275/40/19 it probably is not adding much tread width if any??

With a bigger tire you are going to notice a slight reduction in mpg like maybe up to 1mpg but its probably much lower than that. I personally haven't noticed a difference in mpg going from 235/50/18s to 255/19s and 285/19s in the rear. The ride is a bit stiffer but that is the trade off for /35 tires but you get immediate steering response. For notes I noticed the biggest reduction in mpg after installing a spoiler/ wing so the down force is working. Also you maybe be getting the tram line because the pp1 wheel is 19x9.5 vs 19x10.5.

A few years back i moved up a size in rear to pirelli 285/40/19..11,000 mi and the 275 rears were pretty bald..was changing to SVE rims at the same time..the 285 didnt appear much taller but did enjoy the benefit of having a more accurate speedo reading with the mile markers on the highway....also made 5th gear a better highway gear with the 3:73s.
