Cheers everyone. I picked up my new 2020 GT500 on Monday of this week! Straight from the dealership (I did not allow them to wash it) I went to the PPF installer for it’s first wash, correction, PPF, and ceramic. Today my installer notified me on a paint issue that required my eyes. Hopefully the pictures do it justice. I will say, it looks like a shadow from a distance, looks like a hard line from a gloss to a a yellow- eggshell flat paint up close, and there is a marked difference in feel to the finger tip when transitioning between the area. What are your thoughts? Push the dealership for a panel respray? It has not been PPF covered on that panel yet. Everything is on hold until I make a decision.

Ya I definitely see it. Any idea if it's just something above the clear coat?

I personally went and examined. It is level; no discernible step off between areas, just a feel of differing “smoothness” if that makes sense. I was hesitant, and my installer was too, to buff. Really feels and looks like it didn’t get sprayed. It’s such a large area too.

I think either way you should have the dealer look at it.

I have reached out to them. Bad timing being a Friday and all.

@Tomster what has been the verdict on getting Ford to repair these *obviously* factory cosmetic issues?

Zero pushback. The only problem with the process is finding the people best qualified to do the job. The other drawback is that you have waited a long ass time for your car. Now you have to wait again. Then you have to wait 30 days to apply the xpel on the body panel that was repainted.

The good news is that you don't have a complicated color. It appears to be oxford white and that is simple.

Thanks buddy. Struck out on my phone call to the dealership; hopefully Monday will shed more light on it. Cheers to it (ideally) being an easy resolution.

Looks like some sort of protection for the paint in that area. Anywhere that looks like it can be peeled off? I could be 100% wrong though. Probably am.

Easy, yes. As long as you have qualified people working on it. The problem is that most body shops are like the rest of the service departments..... overworked and under paid.

My car sat in their lot for 2 weeks before they got the work done.

The wait is the hardest part, then you have to wait another month. No Xpel? Now you have to worry about rock chips on real soft paint.

I thought that too due to the shape and location but unfortunately, could find nothing to peel or remove.

I know what he speaks of. The car doesn't have any kind of factory protection in that area. How about some better photos?

Not a good image, but if you have to repaint, you are looking at the whole quarter panel. Side window removed, tail light removed, etc. You want to make sure they do this right. There should be a wet sand before clear coat to avoid any texture.

I was asking for a better photo to make sure it isn't a shadow or anything else. Its odd.
