So here goes another false knock thread (sorry)!! Just looking for another opinion on what I believe is false knock. Engine will knock +9 on hard upshift and if in like fourth and you floor it. So I am pretty sure it has something to do with the motor tourqeing over. Was working with Alex this fall and he said I had false knock so I boostane the hell out it and it was still there. Onto the believed cause
As you can see by the picture it looks as if the header is contacting the frame rail. I put a piece of heat shield there to get a better reference for contact and what do you know looks like it.
Three questions for the crowd, does it look like contact to you as well or just heat from the header dis-coloring it, second can I move the motor over from the top or do I have to go underneath, third- how far over does the motor actually tourqe? Thanks!!

If u zoom in on it,it looks like the header has a dent in it.So i would say it is hitting or someone dented the header to stop it from hitting. Also yes the motor will move from side to side.U have to loosen both mounts and pry it over about a 1/4 in and have someone tighten it up for u.

+9 false knock? I could see a few degrees... but +9??? Sounds like legit detonation.

it only hits that high when I shift really hard on high rpm or slam into it. it runs pretty solid any other time, no knock all the way up then the fast shift from 3rd to 4th and it spikes.

Yes, it looks like it's clear as day that the headers hitting the frame rail during WOT is the source of the knock. You can try to shift the motor over a bit from the top by loosening the motor mounts. Lowering the motor with upgraded motor mounts may help clear the headers as well. The headers are too close for comfort.

Also, it would be smart to address that AC line bolt that you see in your picture. That's a big source of false knock for cars running aftermarket headers. I was able to get a thin sawzall blade in there and saw off the threaded part of the bolt.
