Has anyone installed (or had the Ford dealer install) a battery conditioner / trickle charger into their Mustang?

The GT will be my second (weekend and holidays) car - and will be spending time parked in my garage - hence having a battery conditioner would be a plus!

recommendations please :)

I have the same concerns for running the battery down on my Mustang but I can't leave my car continuously attached to a battery conditioner so I was thinking about getting a jump starter.

900 Amps seems to be about as beefy as they get and I'm not sure if it's enough for 5.0 V8 but it should help assuming the Mustang battery is not completely flat.

Does anyone have any experiences of these (and battery conditioners as asked by the OP)?

Another recommendation for CTEK from me. I've had one on my S197 Mustang for about the last 6 years and it works a treat :)

CTEK recommendation from me as well.. make sure you get the comfort connectors.

I use the recon setting on my car batteries once a year. You will get the money back from the initial outlay in extended battery life.

I use CTEK on my current car - it has a cigarette lighter adaptor so you don't even need to pop the bonnet.

So, charging through the cigarette lighter works also on a 550?

The CTEK doc says it will work on cars that have an active accessories socket that stays active. I know some cars shut off the accessories socket if ignition is off or the car is locked. Not sure if this is the case with the Mustang?

No it does not. The DC outlets do not stay active. I use a Battery Tender trickle charger and have to connect a plug to the battery under the hood.
