So, random question for you guys in Baton Rouge with me...After owning my car for less than a month, I'm done with stock and want to start modifying the car. (After saying things like, "why would I want to change it? It's great as is!") Only issue I have is as much as I would love to do all the work myself, I have no access to a lift or tools. Do you guys know a good place around here that does aftermarket installs?

I've had StangHi do all of my mods for me. From my understanding, they're expensive but I personally rather know that I'm getting good work done. I'm in the same boat as you though lol. I live near corporate/jefferson in an apartment complex and not only am I limited to the tools, but also the experience.

I also preferred to have everything done by one shop if possible so that there's no finger pointing between mod shops should something go wrong in the future. I've been extremely happy with all of their work.

What kind of parts do you want installed. I have a lot of years of experience and I tune.

I'm just looking for some basic stuff, thinking along the lines of new exhaust, new shifter, maybe a cold air intake. Stuff I'm sure I could do by myself given the time, but I really just don't have the option living in an apartment complex.

You could install a cold air intake on the street. It literally takes one tool. I know Alton likes Stang-Hi but if you'd like to pay an arm and a leg, they are the ones you want to go to. I don't know any shops in BR but I am sure you could find one to do the exhaust for you that's not going to charge you more than an hour worth of labor, especially for axle backs. I got mine done for $70.

I understand. Intakes are pretty straight forward, axle backs require cutting, catbacks don't, they are both relatively easy. I'd recommend a tune for sure with your intake but thats up to you. I can provide part recommendations if you would like.

StangHi just seems out of my price range is all. I've heard they do great work from a good number of people so far.

I think I know about what parts I want to go for, it's just a matter of practically getting them installed. Was thinking MGW shifter, MBRP Street catbacks and was leaning towards an Airaid CAI that didn't need a tune.

Jacking up a car on stands and trying to get a shifter and exhaust installed at my apartment's parking garage is just a thing that isn't happening. The cold air I could definitely do there, however.

I strongly recommend a tune, if your looking to make the car faster of course. I have no complaints on the stock shifter in my 2015. Why are you looking to change it out?

It has gotten a good bit better now that I've put 1000 miles on it, but at times it just seems difficult to put into gear sometimes, like it just refuses to go in like there's something blocking it. Downshifting mainly. And some shifts (3rd to 4th) seem really "notchy", for lack of a better word.

Are you in the millennium too by chance? Lol. I've only seen two s550s in the complex, one black gt and a Ruby red one I think.

No I'm over at the gates. The millenium didn't have enough parking for my liking. Nice places though. The gates is super quiet so I like it a lot.

Gotcha, haha. You're right next to my old employer, TraceSecurity. Used to be a security analyst there. There's also a guy named Jose that lives there. Sounds like a nice place too.

I noticed definitely some notchy on my car when I first got it as well. I changed the trans fluid on my first oil change to Royal Purple Syncromax and put some more miles on it and it has definitely loosened up. The syncromax definitely smoothed out gear changes but more miles helped as well. With only 1000 miles on the car, it's still breaking in. I'd do a fluid change first to see if you like that before spending $500 on a shifter for it to feel about the same. Just my .02.

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea. You'd recommend royal purple? I know a lot of people on the boards seem to like it. Does it help with the lockout on downshifting?
