I know this is a basic question but I'm buying my first black car and i bet you guy know how hard it is to keep a black car clean. I want to prevent swirl marks and fine scratches as much as possible. Is there proper way to dry and hand wash a black car? don't dry or wash in a circular motion right? Is there a Shami or micro fiber cloth anyone would recommend? Particular car soap? thanks for the help. I know to stay away from machine wash right? thanks again

Two bucket method with a grit guard is going to be your most important purchases. Contaminants are the enemy. Eagle edgeless towels are good and reasonably priced. For soap, Gold class is readily available but personally I'm using chemical guys maxi suds. As long as you're not buying some bargain bin soap, you'll probably be fine.

Use a hose or pressure washer to remove dirt from the paint before using anything to wash by hand. Removino loose dirt will avoid scratches.

Grit guards are like little screens at the bottom of your 5 gallon 2 bucket method.

They're only a few bucks each and well worth using on a black car. I use them at the bottom of two $3 Home Depot orange 5 gallon buckets. Works perfect and much cheaper than the fancy buckets they have for $20-30 a piece.
